Ran across a thread on FT mentioning that AA is discontinuing the option of transferring AA miles into HHonors points. For the moment it appears to still be available at http://redeemaamiles.points.com but it could disappear any time now.

Oh no. I'm just a bit shy of the 20K min needed to do this:(

Is there such a minimum? The site I linked above doesn't seem to mention it.

It's even worse than I thought since the minimum you need in your account now to make a transfer is 25K miles or elite status. 90K is the max you can do/year.

Don't forget, AAdvantage miles can be used for Hotel & Car awards

Yes, that was cited as a reason for the discontinuation, but apparently the hotel awards are more expensive (for HHonors properties) than transferring and redeeming through Hilton... Where you'd also get stay credit.

I am sorry about this development; but as long I can transfer Hilton points into AA miles, that will be enough to keep me using Hilton.
