Struggling to find links to the filing. You can see the story listed here, but clicking the link to the actual story requires a subscription. The website for the filings is difficult to navigate, I can't find this filing just yet.

    Details:

    • Pending DOT approval
    • If approved, AA plans to start Manaus flights June 2012
    • Flights to Manaus would be 3x a week
    • AA plans to fly a 738
    • Frequencies to Brasilia and Belo Horizonte would allow AA to fly daily

Hmmm... I actually withdrew the post because it shows that it was entered into the docket in 1997. But, I didn't fully read through the whole document so I decided to delete... I wasn't sure if it was the same DOT request

Yeah I edited my reply to say I thought it was off. I don't think it's the same, the equipment in the filing didn't match the reports I saw, and it makes no mention of the increased frequencies for Brasilia and Belo Horizonte....

They should boost their flights to and from Rio de Janeiro, which will be the World Cup's and Olympic's host city!!! But they only have daily flights there to miami and NYC with 763s!!! I hope they make the DFW flight daily and with the 787s... Hope too much!!!

Looks like AA is canceling (though a caveat is included in the link) planned service to Manaus, Brazil.

    LINK.

Going to be nice now, with all the new cities popping up to go to more markets in brazil.. Plus with the world cup coming up we have more options....

That is a really setback. David, could you do me a favor? Tell Maya to take a look at the Aadvantage members from Brazil. I couldn't get a ticket to the OW. Thanks buddy!

At first I thought you wanted me to dial Maya Leibman up on her cell phone and chat about this issue and wondered why you though I had that kind of relationship with the President of AAdvantage, and then I reazlied you meant at the OWMD in January.

In fact AA already has 777 seasonally for GIG-JFK and two daily flights 767 GIG-MIA as well as GIG-DFW with 767. They have had and do have authorities for a number of other cities BSB, FOR, etc but some come and some go. I have given up trying to keep track of all the changes. There is no doubt that we'll see continuing increases in AA service between US/Brazil but where and when is another question entirely.
