I do not know if this is a stupid question or not, but has anyone heard if American airlines will offer double elite qualifying miles as a promotion for their existing customers? I am relatively new to this and have gold status, but wondered if they would be offering anything this year?
Thank you in advance for your replies!

Highly unlikely, given how they give away free status and challenges this year. If they do offer, then next year will be a disaster for all elites..

Totally agree that they won't be doing it, especially because of of the easy challenges that they gave away earlier this year.

That's what we thought last year but they still did a DEQM around this time. But given the merger and all the fare deals, it might not happen...

In 2012 there was DEQM both at the beginning of the year (right after bankruptcy filing) and at the end of the year (right after pilot slowdown). In both cases the airline was trying to prevent their best customers from fleeing.

Planes are full, fares up, there's not an obvious reason why they'd do it this year. If it were to happen it would certainly be announced within the next two weeks. But I'd bet against.

And for some of us it was triple eqm's. ;)

Sent using a small piece of fruit.

    yes it was:cool:

I think in today's environment it is key (if on one's own dime), to really take advantage of DEQM (or more) rates when they come around as the MR worthy fares are not so prevalent as they once were.

Oh yeah. 11,076 EQMs per $198 ORD-SFO run. Just imagine how many EXPs it made.

Probably a good number from our group, but likely still a small number in relation to the total amount of EXPs.

i'm sure it had helped quite a few people who don't do mileage runs, too.
