It depends on whether or not UA also orders the A380. :p

I thought it was tied to a combo order of the 748i AND the A350-900.

I hope not. This does not benefit me, so screw everyone else.

In case anyone from United is reading this... If you match, I will book 15000 miles I wouldn't otherwise book :)

Honestly... I'd probably just book a few flights to visit family and friends.

5 extra round trips at about $300 each... Maybe $1500?

And being as I'd take my wife, 3 grand probably.

UA's refusal to match in the past 30 minutes is an unconscionable outrage. I'm switching $75,000 in refundable international F bookings to Spirit Airlines, so there!

I know it was in satire ... but your comment made me think .Why does it matter if its intl F vs domestic F. Are the margins better for intl F travel?

Or if it was domestic $75k in domestic Y is still 75k right? sorry ...

I think it really depends on whether United decides to join SkyTeam and merge with Delta. If it does, then there's a small chance it will match.

I must say a match would make it very tempting to specifically seek out MR at some point in the next couple months to seek out a ride on the 787

UA already has a DEQM promo going which launched last month, albeit it was targeted and not everyone received it. The main difference with AA's promo is that it is not restricted to bookings made after the bonus was announced. Wish UA would now reconsider that restriction.

If they do match, I will try to have my next ex-RGN International first class tickets plated by United.

Just heard the news. UA will retroactively provide DEQMs for all flights flown to/from JFK/EWR/LGA on October 29 and 30.

Ahhhh, reminds me of years ago in a far away land, when us pmUA peps would hear about AA DEQM's and get a big grin on our face knowing in a matter of hours (sometimes minutes) sUA would jump on the band wagon and bang! DEQM's for everyone:p
I still miss those old days...

Be right back, going to put "UA: Please Match AA DEQM Promo!!" in my signature block. That'll surely make it happen

While I hope they do match, I'm not optimistic. On the other hand, I had already decided to pass on 1K and book remaining trips elsewhere (e.g. with AA, which now has this promo running). Maybe if enough others do the same, the loss of revenue will be motivational for them.

I would be buying those $215 ai RT BWI-LAX flights and flying on the 787.

I sure wish they would. It would certainly motivate me to make one extra trip to the states before the end of the year to get two more RPUs. As it stands, I can't find a MR or '13 trip I can move up which has enough cost:benefit ratio.

It's very unfortunate that airlines don't always make decisions based the needs of mileage runners frantically trying to requalify at year's end.

Indeed it is, as FF programs are designed to encourage people to fly. Flying generates revenue. Perks earned as a result of that lure have a surprising low redemption rate, although members of this board are certainly the more likely to redeem them.
