I applied for the AA 50,000 mile bonus yesterday. Fee waived the first year. Spend $3000 in 3 months. The last time I applied for this card was 4 years ago, and I still have the card. ;)

After I applied, I got the dreaded we're reviewing your application. Phone rings this morning. It was an 877 # so I didn't pick up. After listening to the message, I called them back. They just wanted to verify my name/address, and social, and talk to me about a credit limit???

Why didn't they just approve me rather than waste my time with this. The call lasted 2 minutes.

FWIW, there's a targeted 60K mile for $5K spend. Will the 100K mile/$10K spend return one day?

Charlie Chan says cloudy crystal ball contains answer, but answer remains elusive.

CC is the fictional Chinese detective that was HNL based, in the days of the Pan Am Clipper.

Well would you have preferred that they send the card out with say the wrong address and a card based on your credit gets in somebody else hands?:)

In addition it appears to be SOPP with Citibank to grant a total credit over two similar
cards and adjust the line according to your wishes.

Have had the same experience with Chase. Perhaps this is common (and financially prudent practice) throughout the banking industry.

I get this on most Citibank applications. I think its because the format of my name changes with most applications, I add and drop my middle initial at times.

AX called to verify some esoterica with my app last year.

By the way, how's your UA card feeling these days?

Can't figure out how that would happen. My application address matches every record on file for every card I've applied for. As a matter of fact, I have a drawer full of these cards. ;)

I applied Thursday. Received the call Saturday afternoon. Got the card in the mail this morning. They must be anxious for my business. That's a new record for me.

    Which CARD????

Citi Prestige VISA card with $450 annual fee? Prestige is 50k points redeemable for $800 on AA flight not 50K miles into account.

Curious which card as all other Citi AA cards are 30,000 AA points or less.

Go to the CITI web page. 50K points card bonuses are not AA points but redemption points for cash to be used on AA>

best Citi card for AA points direct is 30,0000.

    Citi® Platinum Select® / AAdvantage® World MasterCard®

This is the second tier card in the Citi AAdvantage lineup. Like the Executive card, is has a sign-up bonus of 50,000 miles, but a minimum spending requirement of just $3,000. What’s better is that the annual fee is just $95, and is waived the first year.

    • Current sign-up bonus: 50,000 miles and two Admirals Club passes after meeting a $3,000 minimum spending requirement within 3 months of account opening.
    • Benefits include: Checked baggage fee waiver and Group 1 boarding for cardholders and up to 4 companions on the same reservation, $100 flight discount coupon after spending $30,000 in a year, 10% mileage rebate up to 10,000 miles per calendar year. 25% savings on in-flight food and beverage purchases, reduced mileage awards (by 7,500 miles).
    • Annual fee: $95 (waived for the first 12 months).

i agree with you, and will check before activating the card..I do remember the $3,000 spend, not $1,000., so we will see when the offer ended.

    I applied thru Mommy Points...

Yeah double check. The same card is on this link for only 30,000 AA points.

NO date was showing on either page so best of luck on which offer Citi gives.

    Either way I will post,

I would take the 30, I have applied for cards with less, we all were spoiled with the 100,000 offers..,

Most of our miles are given to my wife's family in China, it has been great to share with them.

I think I'd go with Citi Prestige with annual fee for $450. Supposedly, you can double dip of $250 airline credit twice and churn into gift cards...so there is $500 credit,

Citi Prestige is the much stronge value proposition of the two. It costs $450 but some of the benefits are:

    • $250 Air Travel Credit each year
    • Complimentary 4th Night for any hotel stay
    • Earn 50,000 bonus ThankYou® Points after $3,000 in purchases made with your card in the first 3 months the account is open.
    • Points are redeemable for an $800 flight on American Airlines or US Airways®, a $665 flight on any other airline or $500 in gift cards.
    • Transfer points to a variety of travel loyalty programs from airlines to hotels.
    • Earn 3x points on Air Travel and Hotels
    • Earn 2x points on Dining at Restaurants and Entertainment

Citi ThankYou points transfer to a variety of airlines. Citi Executive earns American miles.

Citi Prestige also gets you lounge access via the Priority Pass Select card, but is even better because it includes free guest access as well. It also gets you a fee rebate for Global Entry. And the card’s annual fee credit can be used directly for airfare, no need to mess around with gift cards. You even get free rounds of golf. Many will get $3000 in value for the $450 fee in year one with the card.

Just renewed my AA EXEC, offered 7 months of $50.00, total 350.00 plus $100 TSA pre Check. or GE Credit.

I think you have a great offer,

It also leaves me open to apply for the Prestige, nice to show some longevity with Citi,

Would not want to be know as a Card Hopper....:D

DO you know if Citi Prestige 50K TY points can be converted in AA miles 1:1?
I don't think so just redeemable for $800 of airfare on AA.

When you spent using the Citii Prestige card then the points are AA miles.
