Simple question. I know there is no stopover for this JFK-LAX-HNL award. But can I travel JFK-LAX the night before, and take the early morning LAX-HNL flights? Is that still consider a stopover?
    Thanks.

Pretty sure that any onward flight within 24 hours is not a stopover.

The only way it is not a stopover is that you take the last flight in, and first flight out. Otherwise any stop over 4 hours is a stopover.
E.g. You have to take the last JFK-LAX flight at night and out on the first LAX-HNL. If you are booking AAnytime, that's fine. However, if you are looking for AASaver, the last flight out of JFK may not be available.

I have the same issue booking ORD-LAX-HNL.

Thanks. That's what I thought too. It's too bad. Last flight out usually is not available. I'll try.
