JonNYC on Traveling Better has indicated closer relationships between AA and AS will be emerging in the next few days. Please see related links below:

    Reciprocal Elite Benefits:

    LINK.

    Copied from his post:

Priority Check-in and Boarding - Gold, Platinum & Executive Platinum

Express Security Line - Platinum & Executive Platinum

Preferred Seating - Platinum & Executive Platinum

Bag Fee Waiver - Gold, Platinum & Executive Platinum

Alaska Mileage Plan elite status members will have similar benefits when traveling on American Airlines.

    Booking Partner Award on AA.com:

Also earlier this week he indicated that AA will be rolling out partner bookings on AA.com, starting with AS and planned to include all 27 AAdvantage partners. His post: LINK.

Seems like exciting news coming out in the next few weeks. If you haven't been following the news, please click through the links to review all related posts!

This is great news. I think it'll also be great for AS elites to have a new option--many that I know have been avoiding AA in favour of DL since DL started offering decent reciprocal bennies. Now they can look at AA routes as well, and know that they'll get their bags, exit rows and elite check-in. I doubt AS elites will miss the upgrades, as it seems extraordinarily rare for AS elites to be upgraded on DL metal anyways. Overall, a big bucket of win.

The edition of partner award booking is a double edge sword but once it starts rolling into BA/CX/JL/QF territory I'll be pretty excited.

Hopefully this won't translate into reduced availability as people who previously only used AA metal for awards start realizing they can do so much more. It's selfish, but true. :)

I suspected so. I just started using it recently myself and found that it doesn't include a reference to the post in the quote when you reply to someone else's post. I posted as much in the Feedback/Support/Suggestions forum. Sorry for going so far OT! Carry on, carry on... :)

Now I have to decide if I use DL or AA status when flying AA...of course I think DL status will put me higher on the u/g list when available . :)

I hope you mean AS. DL status on AA might land you in the cargo hold. ;)

Doesn't look like the AA/AS deal has upgrade recip.

well, I know UA status on DL means last row of a domestic 763, and the only reason for not getting in the middle of 5 seats is because it was considered full fare ;)

Looks like using my Delta status offers better benefits. My email from AA did not mention any upgrades.

We are excited to announce that, as an AAdvantage Executive Platinum® member, you can now enjoy elite status benefits when flying on Alaska Airlines. These new benefits include:

    Priority check-in and boarding
Express security line at select airports
    Preferred seating
Waived checked baggage charges for the first two bags
Our relationship with Alaska Airlines has been in place for more than ten years and provides you with the opportunity to utilize their extensive network to earn and redeem AAdvantage® miles. And, of course, the miles you earn for travel on Alaska also count toward your qualification for elite status in the AAdvantage program.

Learn more about your new benefits on Alaska Airlines.

Thank you for your business. We hope you will enjoy these new benefits and look forward to seeing
    you onboard.

Probably much easier since AS and DL both offer UDU.

How would AA/AS offer upgrades to elites when one airline hands out free first class seats to all elites and the other charges lower tier elites 500 mile stickers to upgrade?

Seems a bit of a mess to sort out.

Thanks very much for the mention.

AA.com has now been updated to reflect it as well:

    It's now active.

AA has "leapfrogged" AS in that you can book one-way AS segments online using AA miles, while you can only book AA round trips online using AS miles (on AS' website) - due to the fact that AS has yet to offer one-way redemptions on any partner flights.

Perhaps I can finally get to some of the more remote areas of Alaska without paying as much as a flight to India now. :)

Took a quick look and see I can book an award SMF-SEA-DCA entirely on Alaska on-line now. That's a route I will take advantage of in the future. Travel time isn't much longer than SMF-DFW-DCA on AA.

Also noticed SMF-SEA-HNL which is also a route that I might redeem on.

Can't wait to see other partners appear on-line for booking.
