My wife got an email with a 15% discount on AA flights (yes, tons of restrictions, but I used it).

Now, I could use another. I didn't get one in my email, nor did my kids. Anyone know what triggered these? Anyone have an extra one they can PM to me?

If you search your email for "unplugged" or even "uplugged" since there's a typo in there, you might find one. That was the promotion it came with.

    Thanks!

It was targeted. Not sure what criteria they used to target though.

Best bet is someone giving you one.

Yeah - I just found the FT thread. And it looks like they're done with emailing them out.

Anyone find one they won't use?

I didn't get a 15% off code, but I won a 10% off code from one of their Facebook games. I need to book a flight soon, so it will be put to use. It says it's specific to the code holder, so it doesn't seem to be able to transfer.

Yeah - that's my backup plan. I have one, but I'm booking about $2K in flights, so I'm hoping to save the extra $100.

The Planes game 10%? If it's the same one I used, I was able to use someone else's. It's just a regular promo code.

In case anyone wants to laugh at my pain on this one, here's what happened:

I was seeing a good fare, but it turned out it was only for one person. When I added my family, the fares skyrocketed.

So I go back to Kayak to see what else I could do (I don't mind flying Delta). They show these AA flights at the original price, even for a party of four. I try AA.com - nothing. So I click through from Kayak and, guess what? That works. And it's 1/3 the price.

I'm so happy, that I just buy the tickets right then and there. Totally forgot about my 10% coupon.

    Good and bad.

I'm going ask one of those totally stupid newbie type questions. If you book on Kayak do you still get the miles. Once I booked a Hilton through a third party site. I didn't get credit for the stay.

In my case, Kayak popped me over to the true AA site, so no question. With most airlines, you even get miles when you book on third-party sites.

For hotels, though, it's different. I really don't know the rules.
