There are plenty of hassles with modern airline travel, but the recent experiences of two surfers traveling via EVA Air are appalling. On separate occasions, Kristin Solis and Mike Horton confirmed low baggage fees for their surfboards via EVA Air's ticketing office, only to arrive at the check-in counter to be informed the fees would be three times higher! After lengthy discussions with staff, both were still charged more than originally quoted. Is EVA Air doing this intentionally? If so, this is unethical business practice in the least. Large baggage fees are rather common for surfboard bags, but airlines should be honest and transparent about these fees.
