    After some worrying, it's looking like I should hit OZ's 40k miles qualifying criteria for Diamond status *exactly* with my next flight. Given that flights are credited with straggling single miles all over the place, and the variations between programmes, I propose a special prize for those who somehow get together a set of itineraries that hit the exact mark. Lifetime status?

    Anyone else done it?

    Interesting challenge. I confess to not having been able but love the idea of trying to be spot on. I will be following the replies from our other members.

    So I am a tad bit confused.. Lifetime status title in MP or Lifetime status with the airlines? :confused:

    Both! I'll take what I can, as a lowly Y-flyer! Though, I thought we were lifetime members of MP anyway?

    Not really expecting the airlines to do anything, especially considering I've not flown OZ yet!

    Humm.. Interesting Idea.. But aside from recognition, its really hard to ask for anything else..

    Lifetime memberships are given for much more special milestones than that I think..

    But they're already giving it away.. For Plats that is..

    Yep, 1 million miles, and in Y, that means 1 million BIS miles! Ouch!

    Any bets on the programmers of FFP systems having written something like:
    Code:
    if(mileage>threshold)
      elevate_status();
    In which case, hitting the exact value might well be a curse!

    You're asking for special consideration for doing the absolute minimum amount of work. I typically barely clear thresholds myself, but I find that to be its own reward.

    True that reaching the threshold is a great feeling. It's more the somehow getting together a string of segments that add up to an exact round number that's the achievement :)

    I would be more interested in figuring out how to use orphaned miles or points to my benefit where — once used upon reaching the exact amount needed to use them — there is not a single mile or point left in the account, and where the cost and effort would be minimal.

    How about an adult diaper for when you crap your pants trying to figure how to get the 40K exactly! :p But I guess that depends on how much worrying you do and how you worry! :D (OK, just kidding!)

    Well, moving to OZ has got rid of the worry I used to have about not retaining status, so, Yay? Now I can finally fly redemptions!
