Discovered this while playing around with the United website. You can hold awards on United without paying for farelock even if you have enough miles in your account. You can even hold revenue tickets. Explained here.

Great! (Wonder how long it'll last, though.)

In the illustration, it seems the reservation was held for only two days. What is the usual hold period with this method?

Another teaser post to drive traffic to some blog. If you don't want to post the details here on MP for us, please don't use MP to try to get us to click into your blog.

Thanks for sharing. Worth noting, phone order still works too. I just used it 2 days ago to hold a res.

Although that wasn't my intention, I can clearly see how that can be perceived. I thought I had explained it rather well on my post, and didn't want to rewrite it all. I can see how a summary would have been better, perhaps with a link to details. So, your point is noted. Won't happen again.

For those who don't want to click the answer is to use PayPal. It has always (i.e. for YEARS) worked; it isn't new at all. And the ability to us the pay by phone option has been back for a while, too.

I also find it interesting that VFTW suddenly "discovered" this not-actually-at-all-new benefit after two others wrote about it the week prior. At least he sortof gave credit on it. Sortof.

Yeah, the blog post had a bunch of screenshots and such. But the words: "Use PayPal as the payment option for the taxes" aren't all that hard to write again. Linking off for more details rather than copy/pasting the post isn't necessarily bad, but setting up a complete tease with no actual content isn't all that useful.

You may have a point, but you don't have to go off on OP like that. I actually didn't know about the Paypal trick, so I'm happy he (she?) shared. I really don't think we should discourage people from posting here.

I am not discouraging people from posting. I'm suggesting that they post more information in a clear and easy to understand manner.

I thought that was pretty clear.

I don't want to discourage people from posting, but this is a publc forum that anyone with an e-mail has access to.
Expect that when you post such info, it will be fixed / gone.
