Aw shucks. I was so hoping to visit North Korea right after my Iran-Afghanistan trip.
Interesting- thanks for sharing.
I hope GHM can open this hotel again, North / South situation permitting.
How is GHM doing now anyway uggboy?
They've been shrinking, but new properties are in their development pipeline. After celebrating 20 years in the hotel management business, I presume they need to focus on who they are and what they want to achieve. In fact, they need to refresh IMHO.
I remember the debacle of their Milan hotel [ the Chedi Milan ] which lasted less than a year, this hotel is now a 4 star Radisson and then the management " overnight lock-out " @ the Setai in Miami and the loss of the famous Datai in Malaysia. All this made headlines around the world, this leaves a bitter taste and a negative view towards them.
The Chedi brand is doing well IMHO, but they need to expand, they need to be more accessible, unlike Aman, GHM should focus on a different guest.
GHM planning to open for example in 2013 incl. Morocco and Switzerland, followed in 2014 incl. Kuala Lumpur [ great to see them in more urban locations ] and in 2015 they plan to expand into the UAE. Keep watching! [ At one time they planned to enter Dubai, but I have nothing heard of this project so far ]
