Hey I accepted a bump today and got a USAir voucher and a first class seat tonight. Looking forward to my first time in first class (no status). Unfortunately it is only a two hour flight. Hey you take what you can get. I am already on the lookout for spending my voucher. Maybe I will wait for the next point break announcement and see if I could combine that and the voucher.

Congrats! I still remember my first time in (domestic) F. Was flying from SFO to the east coast on America West (somehow... did they have non-stops?!), which got canceled for some reason and they put us in F on Continental via Houston. That was a decade before I discovered FT and became infected. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

Now you just have to anxiously wait to see if you get fire class mileage credit. ;)

Then again, it might've been that domestic (DL) bump up to first class a few years ago that made me never want to fly domestic airlines unless I had too...(hence, numerous trips around the world and one or two to the west coast)

Back in 1984, we (16 or us) were to return from Israel on El Al in coach. Back then, there was no Business Class and First was amazing but no comparison to the beds we have today. The Israeli agent had messed up and forgot to confirm the group. When she finally got around to it, we were told only 8 got confirmed on the original 1 AM flight and the rest of them (including my wife and me) would take the 6 AM flight - no big deal.

Last moment, we were told to all board the bus to the airport but when we arrived, only the original 8 got their boarding passes. About 45 minutes later, all 8 of the remaining travelers got 8 of the 10 First Class seats upstairs on the 747. Back then, our ticket was $750 RT for Coach. The one-way FC ticket was $2525! All I can say was that I had no desire to sleep - I didn't want to miss a second of it. The entire trip,we looked at each other and laughed!

We've been lucky to fly long-distance in First many times since (God bless FT and our bloggers!) but you're right, that first trip was a truly amazing, pinch-me experience!

I am now spoiled. The trip was great (even though it was only two hours) and luckily coming back the plane was a third empty and I had no one in the seat next to me so both flights were very roomy.

Now I just need to plan my trip with the voucher.
