I wonder how much they paid the design team to come up with pinstriping?

Ahhh....but it is a "special" pinstripe which matches the design Boeing uses on their aircraft and it is meant to reflect the long-term relationship that the two companies have.

I think I threw up a bit in my mouth just retyping that crap.

As long as it takes me to cool, far away places, I don't care what it looks like on the outside. ;)

Just as long as you didn't want to fly the cool, far away route of Houston to Auckland, you're in great shape!!

I didn't know the 787's were going to be based in IAH? So, I guess that means at first we need to connect there for a flight on these new birds (excluding the initial short haul test/marketing flights)?

"United is preparing to provide 787 maintenance support from its Houston base, and the airline is warehousing more than 1,180 different spare parts for easy and rapid access by its technicians."

I like the swooshy but not the marketing hype that goes with it.

I'm reminded of Han Solo saying, "And I thought they smelled bad on the outside!"

Yeah...not actually much of a surprise there IMO. The planes were originally going to be used for IAH-LOS and IAH-AKL as routes. Now DEN-NRT is also on the map but an IAH base, considering they are sCO planes and will be operated by sCO crews, shouldn't be much of a surprise.

I actually like the non-linear gold stripe. Does remind me of the Boeing 787 livery and it makes sense they are promoting the relationship. I, for one, like it!

I obviously don't know about others, but that stripe and the "promoting of the relationship" isn't going to earn UA a single extra dollar from me.

My CEO's on the board of Nike (and I therefore wear Nike shoes), so I might just be infected.

I will try to book a flight when they are on the EWR to IAH route (which I assume they will do for training purposes)

So did I, but this is a reasonably friendly community and I'm trying to maintain a wee bit of decorum.

Except for the tail-end half "globe", which needs to be redesigned because it tries to represent a 3D shape on what is essentially 2D structure. It has been the only thing in the livery that has not sat well with me... esthaetically and not because it is a PMCO symbol. I have already accepted the two companies together, but had felt from the beginning felt that the "globe" did not belong there... The same concept can do but it needs a better redesign so that it does not look out of place...

Is that an agreement or a disagreement? Since is a "no" that goes on ad infinitum, I suppose it is a disagreement, but what exactly are you disagreeing with?
