My apologies if this has been covered...

Looking at the seat maps on aa.com (DFW-LHR routes) on the 77W, I see it's 3-3-3 for MCExtra and 3-4-3 for regular Y with some 2-4-2 rows in there...

I'm glad I'll have access to better seats!

    :(

Yup...back when they first showed the cabin interiors (months ago) for the new 773s it showed 3-4-3 in the back. And a couple weeks ago when they invited a few media folks to DFW to announce more about the 773 they confirmed that it will be 3-4-3 in the way back and 3-3-3 in the MCE seats for the few rows of there which exist.

Hopefully there are still MCE seats available for you when you book.

Today's the first day they went up, so I'm actually surprised no one has posted the cabin configs and stats. Which I suppose I might try to do before I head out to the beach. :)

Yuck indeed. Then again, I had an entire row of 4 to myself on CDG-LAX flight a few years back on AF. Poor man's business class!

Getting lie-flat coach is always a welcome event. I've had it EWR-LHR, IAD-GRU and SFO-SYD, among others, and it is great.

Regarding the 3-4-3 thing, at least EK offers a bit of extra pitch for the seats on most configs. AA isn't even doing that.

Unless I completely missed the point the groaning and moaning here is about lateral space ...correct? So does a few inches more (or less) of pitch mitigate that?:)

Me dont much care....havent flown International Y in what? 30 years?:)

Yes, especially on flights around 10 hours.

Tried it on NZ and I agree it blows...I had thought "oh it can't be so bad, I bet I won't even notice". Wrong! And I'm not a tall or large guy by any means.

I had been so excited to hear about AA getting 773s but this is a big thumbs down. Especially if pitch is reduced.

In returning to LHR next month, my options were AF or KL...I'd MUCH rather be on an older KL 747 in Economy Comfort than a newer 773! :)

Where is it being suggested that pitch is being reduced on these seats?

It isn't being reduced (though I suppose that would be had since the config didn't previously exist) but it also isn't being increased to offset the lateral density the way AF and, to a greater extent, EK have done.

I'm quite aware of these things-- I was asking where this post got the idea that pitch might be reduced since he mentioned it.

Although the sentence "though I suppose that would be had since the config didn't previously exist" definitely escapes me.

A Fact is that the new config will be very hard on those travelling on Y, even in Main Cabin Extra, after all this is a long-haul plane!

There is speculation on FT about pitch on the new configuration. I didn't say it was, hence "if" It wouldn't surprise me but hopefully not.

I've always been happy with the pitch in Y on AA...very much comparable to Economy Comfort on DL... ;)

Really? Just comparing the DL 767 and 777, EC is 36" compared to 30" on the AA 763 and 32" on the 772 and I think 4 to 6 inches is very noticeable to me. I haven't been on AA 762 but if it's 32-34" as SG states that might be less of a difference.

Perhaps it's a figment of my imagination, but it seemed noticable on my AA flights, especially the AA 772 versus the DL 764...which I found seem to vary.

Has anyone found any SWU upgrade space on any of the routes with the new 77W? I've been looking around at 2013 flights and specifically every one that's 77W has 0 space and other 777 flights do. I thought there'd be atleast some available from time to time...they haven't all been snatched up do you think?
