Refrigerator-Size Plane Door Crashes Into Washington Neighborhood

Kent, Washington. Witnesses say the object fell from the sky just before 7 a.m. Friday morning, crashing down onto a residential street in Kent, Washington's East Hill. The piece of metal skipped about 30 feet before coming to rest on the street.

FAA doesn't seem to know yet where it came from.

Witnesses thought they saw a cargo plane coming in for a landing and flying irregularly.

I have a brilliant idea: check all the 767s that landed at SEA on Friday morning for a missing landing gear door :)

Good idea, lets appoint a committee to consider that action and issue a report.

Of course, if they knew when it fell, couldn't they look at Plane Finder or something similar, and see what could have been overhead at the time? I don't suppose the FAA has anything like that in their arsenal of tools... :(

They could probably also just listen to their voice mail. I assume airlines are required to report when big pieces of their airplanes go missing ?!

This was Seattle. The inspectors probably were required to stop at every Starbucks along the way, so that delayed their investigation.

Probably BFI as most cargo ops (and I'm guessing 90% of the 767s) operating around Seattle use it and not SEA.

This is getting strange. The latest news story I can find is from 19 hours ago, no updates, no announcement of what plane it fell from. What are they hiding? Could this be from a secret flight from Area 51/Roswell? I'm afraid to look at airliners.net, in fear of the conspiracy theories that I will discover there.

Sorta like car parts, wouldn't the "VIN" be stamped in a major part?

Clearly they weren't from Seattle if they were drinking Starbucks. :p

Are all those Starbucks for visitors?
