That's brilliant! I couldn't see doing a transcon in the new A330 layout, but an international config is just the ticket. I'm looking forward to see what Virgin Blue has to offer as far as business class seats.

Oh - just realised this is in the trip reports forum, not QF!

Can't wait to try this out!! I hope to get back to Perth. It would be nice to try out their Biz class. [IMG]

I wonder if they'll price the flights differently according to aircraft, and what to do if there's a late aircraft change...

Love it. Just wish they weren't using QF581/582 and used something sub-400 (so we WP could use the F lounge ;)). Still, they do appear to be letting WP pre-select Y+ seats on the 3 class birds for Y tickets. Tempting to route MEL-SYD-PER from now on when I can!

I've never been to Perth, but I'm almost tempted to go for a trip now - especially with what drewbles said - WP being able to preselect Y+ seats.

According to AusBT the middle seats on the A330 will be removed. If so, this is great news and along with the international-configured aircraft being deployed on domestic transcons should make for a very comfortable trip.

I'm looking at a HKG-PER-SYD JASA in November and would love to have the opportunity to try out the 744.

Do we know when the specific flights will be announced?

Suddenly the connections to Asia via Perth are more tempting!

I used to enjoy taking the 743 flights from MEL-PER. Not sure Skybeds are going to be a huge factor on a daytime ~4 hour flight, but am certainly tempted to go MEL-SYD-PER later this year just to ride the 744 in J/F seats.

From what I could make out, there are no F seats in the planes they are likely to be using. PE seating seems to have loaded as Y.

Never been to PER, and spending my time aboard a 747 there sounds like a great way to go. I wonder if as a Gold I’d manage to get into Y+ seats too… :D

I agree the 743 to/from PER was great. Maybe it is just my like of the 747 that does it or maybe it has other benefits. IMHO anything that has more than one isle on trips of more than an hour or two is great.

Thanks and noted. [IMG] I'll just see what is available to me and with knowledge gleaned from communities like this, snaffle whatever I can get. J should be just fine!

Do we need our first Mile Point get together onboard a Qantas 747 flying Sydney to Perth. [IMG]

Another option is SYD-PER on Qantas and then PER-SYD on Virgin Blue.

QF 747 to PER and come back on a DJ A330 seems like a plan.

Schedule also permits SYD-PER on QF followed by PER-AKL on NZ.

If Velocity ever allows earning on AirNZ flights, then that could be a nice trip.

Supposed to be coming this year now that competition approvals have been given.
