    From the Boarding area blog:.

I suppose Delta is proud of being able to find a way to charge so many miles (or SkyPesos are they are called in this blog). And this is not even First Class.

Good question. Ask the blogger who wrote about it.

I can trade you for miles! I'll give you a good rate, 1 trillion Zimbabwean dollars for 100,000 sky pesos?

The sad thing is that you're probably losing out on that deal.

This is making my recent email from DL sound optimistic: now that you have 600K miles, you have enough for an award ticket. (I started a thread to share this recently.)

Just got two seats SDF-ATL-HEL open jaw SVO-PRG stopover PRG-ATL-SDF for mid-summer 012 in business (except ATL-SDF, SDF-ATL in economy) for 100,000 miles each. That's more like SkyEuros than SkyPesos.

And yes, the hard part was the local Delta flight. Even though it had FC, no FC seats were available. Delta tried to get me to higher award level! I countered by asking for economy on local flights. Hope to eventually get FC but don't care.

I do not dispute how difficult DL award are to secure. I have had to use Air Canada on several trips because Delta wanted triple the miles. But we need some balance here and people need to know that some peak season deals exist.

They definitely do still exist. I booked 3 biz tickets to Oz for Dec at low levels. It just seems to be the exception. In the blog post he mentions that there are great uses for Skymiles, but it's crazy that a coach ticket is even coming up at 720,000 miles.

Skymiles are great if you know when to use them and which routes you can get great deals and find availability on.

    Agreed.

Previous attempts to get to Italy and to Chile/Brazil both were at 275,000 miles or more business class. Air Canada was 100,000 miles (FC on LH) to VCE back FCO) and 75,000 miles to SCL return on US Airways from GIG.

I did do a low mileage BC trip to JNB a couple of years ago. I have done several FC domestic trips to LGA, LAX and LAS.

It takes time and patience but they are sometime there if you look. Picking your own route one leg at a time helps.

ATL is interesting. Lots of flights, lots of elites. Coach awards through ATL are often available at saver rates where FC are not. That is why on our Russia trip we are in coach to/from ATL and business the rest of the way. Had to help the agent understand tha the domestic legs did not have to be in FC. We live 1h20m by air from ATL.
