Well it hardly came as a shocker: the drug companies and lobbying industry owns Congress. How can you tell such corruption exists? Well, take a look at the totally unnecessary decision to allow 4 airlines to merge, then have carve up the country, drive fares sky high, reduce flight frequency, gut frequent flyer programs: in short to make scores if not hundreds of anti consumer decisions almost every day for 6 years. This in an industry where the taxpayer underwrites a huge amount of air travel. Not a single meaningful, substantive peep out of any member of Congress. On bended knee they are to their capital management/lobbyists heroes . We need a breakup of BIGAIR and hopefully some real investigative reporting will get us there.

BigPharma was going to install a regulator who was going to allow them to run amok. Sound familiar, air travelers?

This was in the news a few years ago - but even back then nothing mattered:

    http://www.politico.com/story/2015/04/bill-shuster-admits-personal-relationship-with-lobbyist-117054
House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster is dating a top lobbyist for the leading U.S. airline trade association, an organization that spends millions of dollars trying to influence his panel.

The Pennsylvania Republican is currently at the center of high-stakes negotiations to enact the most sweeping overhaul of the Federal Aviation Administration in decades. The package could include changes to the nation’s air travel system, including the privatization of the air traffic control system. Airlines for America’s members — all of the nation’s largest airlines — have a major interest in the legislation.

Shuster and Shelley Rubino, vice president for global government affairs for Airlines for America, have been romantically involved since last summer, according to multiple sources familiar with their relationship. Rubino, a former top House Democratic leadership aide, has been with the trade group since March 2012.

Have to love cross partisan pollination of deceit: she was a Democratic staffer on the Hill then became a trade lobbyist then partnered up with the Republican Chair. These people simply laugh at their constituents-they are in one party called Big Money. Which is why Congress members only leave D.C. In a box-when they lose or retire they don't go home. Most lobby often creating bipartisan firms.
