Shh... Now they tell me it was supposed to be a secret. But you have all marked your calendars for October 4, right? I will tell you more then.

Thanks for the tip! I've been thinking about getting a UA card before CO/UA officially become one. Keep us updated!

I might have to give up my Chase Sapphire... Not sure if Chase will extend me more credit :(

Chase tends to be good about allowing you to move credit to a new card. So if you have $3,000 worth of credit on your Sapphire and they deny your application for the UA card for too much open credit, try asking them to lower your limit on the Sapphire and move the remaining amount to the UA card. For instance, you could lower your $3,000 limit on the Sapph to $500 and move the remaining $2,500 to the new UA card. YMMV, there are some good blog posts out there on this. I believe Million Mile Secrets and Frugal Travel Guy both have them.

I have the Preferred so need to have a min. credit limit of $5K which is what my credit limit is with Chase. Citi and AMEX give me a higher credit limit than that of Chase. I would like to adjust my credit around but it isn't possible unless they decide to give me more credit which I doubt is likely.

Thanks for the heads-up. My mom wants to apply for the card, so I will advise her to wait.

Am I disqualified if I got the Chase UA card and 25,000 or 50,000 miles a few years back?

I think you will be fine if it was a few years ago. Chase doesn't like it when you keep applying for their credit cards during a short time frame. There are mixed reviews on this so YMMV.

I'd really like to bite on this one, but I have a feeling that UA will be offering an 80k or 100k bonus soon, and I just have to keep waiting it out!

I doubt we'll see an offer above 60K for a long time. I'm going to apply 10/4.

    Gary,

Thanks very much for the heads-up. Are we talking about the MP Explorer card, and does that qualify for bonus miles if you already have the previous generation of United card?

    Yes, the Explorer card.

Sorry, I have no info on the bonus if you have the previous card. I think we will just have to use our usual technique of trying it and then reporting the results here. Alas, this time we will have only three days to do this.

Right now I have a 60k mile offer appearing when I log into United Mileage. 50k miles after first use, 10k miles after getting $25k spend in 12 months, first year fee waived. Seems like that will be something of the same sort.

Keep in mind that the FTGuy had a "special" card to announce from Chase it was the explorer card from and it was basically a letdown. So Chase has a (short) history of hyping up offers to their affiliates which don’t seem such a great offer to us.

Does anyone know if a person got a Continental Explore card (last month) would be able to qualify for United Explore card now? Thank you for your help.

    Best,

I obtained the United MP card last year when they were offering the 50K. Since this is a "new" card with the "new" MP I wonder what my chances are of receiving the bonus. Has anyone who obtained a United MP card in the last couple years obtained this the new Explorer card and obtained the bonus??

It's been postponed till November if you read the other posts. Which means that no one even got to apply/receive the bonus yet :)

I'm aware of this but anyone with status can apply now and not wait for the public offer so I was directing my post at them or others who have applied for the current public offer of 40k
