Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere (searched but didn't find), but I received an emailed offer to link my Facebook and Hilton accounts today to earn an easy 500 Hilton HHonors Points:

    http://doubletree.topguest.com/

Just enter your account, submit, and when it asks for permission regarding who can see the posts, select "Only Me" so no one is bothered. Once the points post, if you're really concerned, you could disable to app completely with no consequence. Enjoy!

I didn't pay a whole lot of attention when I went through the sign-up (which ultimately failed with this error), since I was using my "friendless" FB account, but what access rights does the app request? I am generally not only disinterested in spamming my feed with sponsored messages, but I also don't like the idea of exposing my list of friends to Hilton or Topguest for 500 measely points.

Always pay attention! As long as you selected, "Only Me" from the permissions box upon approval, no one else will see it. As you have no "friends", no one will see it anyway. Reports are that points post instantly (but don't show in account activity, for whatever reason), so you could just remove the app after they've posted and no harm done. Enjoy!

Failed for me. No doubt it is topguest fault. What losers.

Instant points? Really? Mine weren't instant (wasn't expecting them to be, though).

Same here, I suspect it is because Topguest doesn't like me any more.

    Chuckle... indeed ... re-read my post :)

That wasn't the question I asked about :) FB Apps usually request access to certain profile information, e.g., list of friends. That's separate from posting to the wall. And I am not sure that there is a way to disallow that and still use the app. It doesn't really matter in my case as my friendless FB account has virtually no information for me, but I thought I'd point out that wall-spam isn't the only thing to be concerned about with FB apps.

Nothing to enjoy for me as my account isn't eligible. Oh well :(

I tried four different HHonors accounts I manage, and none of them worked. One of them had never been used with Topguest before, so I don't think they reconciled it with their other Topguest postings. I guess we could all start following the instructions and bug Doubletree customer service about it. :)

Did you try to connect a different Facebook account with each Hilton account (instead of the same one), and if so, did the email address tied tot he FB account match the one used on Hilton?

People being rejected might want to try signing into their Facebook account and checking "remember me" first, then try re-submitting. Also, if you've ever been to TopGuest, maybe go and see if your account is still active.

I understand, but as you have no friends, that wouldn't matter. If you're still concerned, you could play with the privacy settings, or even easier, just remove the app as soon as the points have posted (instantly for those who qualify). I know it didn't work for you, but maybe mess around a bit and it will. Good luck!

No and no. Always used the same FB account, which I realize is probably not a good test. But I am too lazy to maintain secondary FB accounts for everyone ;)

Actually, the very first time I tried it, I got beyond the initial topguest-hosted page and into Facebook and it only failed back to the topguest page to display the "not eligible" error after I approved the Facebook app request. I never again got that far, it now always immediately fails with the "not eligible" error in the topguest-hosted page. Even if I am NOT logged into Facebook.

Kinda strange, but I am not too worried about 500 points. It would have been nice to get'em, but they are worth maybe $3.

If I was writing FB apps that wanted to actually use the profile data, I'd suck it out of the account right away after approval and not give the account owner the chance to disable my app again. ;)

Hilton says "sucess" and I will recieve my points in 6-8 weeks. I try to update my Hilton Rewards in Reward Wallet and I get an "unknown error". Log into Hilton website and no points.

Reward Wallets is now mad and errors out when updating Hilton.

The lack of unique FB accounts might explain it, as connecting accounts requires unique accounts. If email addresses don't match, that's an additional point of failure (albeit less likely).

As far as I'm aware, you can disable *any* FB app.

Today without doing anything I saw an extra 500 points in my account. Mind you I have logged into TopGuest in the past. The promo through the link worked for me (at least it did not give me an error) so perhaps I'll get another 500 :D

Correct, but I didn't claim that you couldn't.

Another point (pun intended): my Topguest account is still working. And it's exciting to see another promo from them (even if didn't get anything) as is contradicts the claims that they are on auto-pilot into oblivion. I hope to see (and earn) more from them.
