Interesting list, I can think of a few more sites I think are deserving.

Interesting list. I've been to eleven of them. It feels like a few things are missing, though I can't put my finger on which...

Curious - what are you thinking should be on here?

This IS part 1...perhaps subsequent lists will include what you're looking for.

    next 50 are here

don't get me wrong the images here are amazing and I agree with almost all of them (though I had a  moment with the Little Mermaid and the Peeing Boy of Brussels )

I realized after I posted that these were landmarks, and not necessarily tourist spots like the British Museum
but these ones I considered, even though photographically, some would be difficult to picture -

    Great Barrier Reef
    Nazca Lines of Peru
    Redwood Forests of California
    Monestaries of Meteroa in Greece
Buckingham Palace (and possibly Windsor and Edinburgh Castle)
Three Gorges Dam (too new to be recognizable, but it is huge)
Bund, Shanghai (though it is losing its charm as new construction goes on)
    Time Square, New York
    Temple Karnak
    Delos, Cyclades Greece

some are more symbolic and historical than recognizable
    A-bomb Dome building
    Xi'an and its City wall

Just looking at that photo of Neuschwanstein immediately creates a reflection of Narnia in "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" :)

Of the 50 listed, I only have been to 10. But there are some in the US that should be on the list.

    Yellowstone
    Half Dome in Yosemite.
    Golden Gate Bridge.
Heck you can even include Disney Land or Walt Disney World.

For me, 15/50 for the first 50. 14/50 for the second 50.

Quite an interesting list and very nice pics. Thanks for posting the link :)

Ive visited 31 of the sites on this list.... I guess I must get out more.

Have to say that listing Niagra and not listing Iguazu falls is odd.... anybody that has visited both sites knows which one deserves to be on the list if you cant list both.

Ah.... guess I have to correct my post above... part 2 of this list sets things straight with Iguazu.

23 out of 50 for part II..... this confirms I must get out more....

Places that I think are missing on this list....

    Terracota warriors in Xian (China)
    Hiroshima Memorial (Japan)
La Bombonera Stadium in Buenos Aires (Argentina)

    12 in the second batch.

    Hmmm.

Having the western wall and the gold-domed temple in Jerusalem feels like double counting.

I am puzzled about the Inukshuk in Canada item. There are inukshuks in various places in Canada. I've seen at least three over the years. Is there one that is supposed to be particularly famous?

9/50 for part 1, 11/50 for part 2. 20% isn't bad. Always good to have a new list of places to see. It makes planning trips much easier than randomly picking a place on the globe.

Look at Part 2. Yellowstone still doesn't make it, but Yosemite and the Golden Gate are there.
