A snowblower has accidentally knocked into and shattered one of the large glass panels at Apple’s iconic 5th avenue Apple Store. That’s one of 15 panels, and those large slices of glass were installed a couple of years ago. In total, the late-2011 renovation project to move from 90 glass panels to 15 cost Apple approximately $6.7 million. Doing the math (and excluding labor costs), Apple is looking at a roughly $450,000 bill to fix that glass panel.

Much of the value added billions earned by Apple are from creating and and promoting an image, rather than just from core technology. These panels play to that image. Maybe they'll decide that it is time to update, toss all 15 panels into the dumpster and replace them with something even more "contemporary" and "nouveau chic"? I mean, come on, this is so 2011.

Because it's really meant as a commentary on how apple markets their product based on aesthetics and "coolness" rather than on technological prowess. (just my opinion, but they're all hat and no cattle)

I tend to approach Apple with sarcasm, but that isn't always well received by the devotees.

Their PC hardware has slowly won me over. It lets me do 95% of the things I would need Linux for, with 100% less 'Dealing with linux'.

If I still had a job that depended on support for .NET applications I would feel differently, but for what I do for work right now, Linux or Mac are the better options, and Linux is just .... to much work to make it run well in my experience. The time I would spend dealing with it I am to busy buying VRs and traveling ;)

    -EDIT-

I would add I was issued one for work when I changed jobs. I didn't just up and decide 'lets try mac' one day.
