I was checking into the PH Washington in the last week and inquired about a late checkout. The desk agent mentioned that Diamond would soon be getting 4:00 p.m. check out as a benefit (and gave me a 4:00 p.m. check out, too). thought little of it until learning today about significant upcoming changes to GP. A nice touch if true.

But late check-out for regular old Gold members is going away. Give and take I guess!

Gold, is of course, not particularly a status level - one gets it for joining GP. Nor was late check out ever promised. currently GP's website promises golds:

"Request a 2:00 p.m. late check out, subject to availability"

Hardly worded as a guaranteed benefit.

Wow, the late checkout privilege-- providing that it's a guarantee and not just a request subject to availability--would make Hyatt Diamond much more valuable for me. I love the SPG version of this and it causes me to really value SPG Plat.

Oh I agree completely, it was just spelled out in an email I got from Hyatt today that 2PM Check-out for Golds was no longer an option. Probably making room for elites to have more access to late check-out, which is a good thing!

This would be amazing news, let's only hope they do think also about Hyatt Gold Passport Platinum members too!!:);)

Will they offer some benefits for Platinum level members too? EG....2 PM late check-out? Hope they do not forget Platinums!

I would hope not, and was deliberately vague as to exactly when I checked in to make it difficult to ascertain who the agent was . . . I was even reluctant to identify the property, but I know they cannot fire the entire front desk staff at the PH Washington!

It just shows that they apparently broadcast information about some of the changes pretty widely across the company. Or maybe this FD agent found out from his manager, who found out from her manager, who in turn heard the GM of the hotel ranting about those darn changes mandated by Hyatt Corporate making everyone's life harder (totally making this up, of course). In any case, a bit naive to assume it won't leak out.
