kdoughboy on Flyertalk has discovered three links which lead to applications for the USAir Mastercard. You can read the terms and conditions on either application to confirm the bonuses. As far as I know, these are the best offers available since the 40,000 mile offer was pulled:

Forgot to mention, there is also an offer for 40,000 miles after one purchase, but it has the $89 fee in the first year. This 40,000 offer also provides 10,000 miles on each anniversary. Link to the 40,000 offer can be found on View From the Wing and other bloggers. You have to determine for yourself if the extra 5,000 miles is worth $89.

    May I earn
    without a churn
    and still learn
    at every turn?
    Miles I seem to burn
    How many I must discern
lest a trip for which I yearn
    I'm unable to return

Actually they are coming and going quickly in the last twenty four hours. No telling what will happen the rest of the day!

    Thanks for this link.

Looks like I got a second US MC :D

Used the first link from FT and after entering all the data, I got an error indicating that the website had problems and asking me to call or try again later. But instead when I logged into my Barclay's account, it prompted me to activate my card (which I don't have yet, of course, and don't know the CVC for). After I canceled out, I saw a second card associated with my account.

How long have you had the first one?
I snagged mine last May and I'm contemplating pulling the trigger here.

Applied for 2 Barclay's cards on the same day (today), and apparently that didn't work. I got the Frontier card that I really wanted (had to call recon) but was told that because I had also gotten the Frontier card today, they couldn't approve me for a 2nd US Air card today and suggested applying again in 6 months. It probably won't be around in 6 months.

Same thing happened to me. I was planning on getting the Frontier card on this churn; and added the USAir card at the last minute. Frontier was approved. I called Barclay's credit department. They said everything looked great except for the number of credit cards opened in the last 12 months. I guess my answer to that was not persuasive enough! I'm always too honest, I guess :)

On a positive note...how nice is it to actually call a company and have a real person answer the phone?

Whoever invented those damn automated phone menus has a very special place in hell waiting for them. If Barclay's has actual people answering their phones, maybe I'll have to think about adding one of their cards.

The Barclays reconsideration line direct phone number is on the Frequent Miler blog. I called it and spoke to a human after selecting English/Spanish.

I talked to Barclays Recon Line today as well. Got a person immediately. Did not get approved, I got told the offer was only for US Airways Elite Members and that I had not had a credit check done.

I used one of the links listed by Miles and Smiles on the blog with 40k sign up bonus and up to additional 10k for a balance transfer (can't remember which link. ) I received the card several weeks ago (was in CA for one month on a business trip.) yesterday, I called the customer service to confirm my 40k sign up bonus, but they said it was only for 35k. The CSA requested a copy of application for to review. Luckily I took a screen shot of terms and conditions at the bottom of the application before pressing the apply button. I faxed a copy today.

Finally got an answer from US Air.

They gave two options to: Take 40k miles and pay the $89 annual fee and on the anniversary date receive 5k miles.
Take 35k miles with the annual fee waived for the first year and on the anniversary date receive 10k miles.

Because of no upfront fees, I took the latter option.

I just got a call from Barclay, and they reconsidered the offer. The Barcaly made a decision to give me the additional 5k miles. Now, I will receive 40k miles with the annual fee waived for the first year and on the anniversary date receive 10k miles. So, I'll end up with 50k. It was worth the time and effort.

FYI for anyone not paying attention...

If you follow the thread on FlyerTalk, or the comments on Gary's post where he highlighted the 35K/45K trick, it looks like that doesn't work anymore. When you click submit on the 45K offer, you get a "pending, you'll hear from us" status, but in fact no application is created at all. If you check your credit report, you'll see they didn't even do a pull. If you check your automated status, there will be no application, and if you call the phone reps they won't know what you're talking about.

IF this happens to you, you can just go back and click on the 35K offer, which still works. If you're like me, you'll get an error. But if you immediately check the status on your application using TPG's link, you'll see that you were in fact immediately approved. Sure its not 45K but its better than nothing.
