Just ran into this at SEA tonight when I used my Amex Plat for entrance to the SkyClub. I was presented a coupon to redeem online for 300 Membership Rewards points. The agent said it's a new thing. Keep 'em coming!

Interesting, I would have guessed that the bonus would be DL SkyMiles since the SC gets money when we access the SC using AmEx Plat. I wonder if this works when the boarding pass shows BE or SC member but one also has AmEx Plat?

Wow! 4 X 300 MR points for a connection through DTW and about 6 X 300 for an ATL connection at the right time, 3 X 300 for JFK (I'm assuming that the Oasis doesn't count), but only 2 X 300 for MSP, once for LAX, SFO, MEM, and CVG IIRC.

I guess that we would want to deep six the SkyClub cards and pull out the Amexes but the notation on the BPs will give us away. I think that I will try it anyhow. :D

If it's really AmEx giving the MR points and DL collecting the money from AmEx, DL should be very glad to have your use AmEx Plat rather than DM, Reserve, BE, or SC membership card to enter a SC.

  8. This is good news! Great bonus!

I have found that with many large companies, what they "should" be does not necessarily translate into intelligent responsive actions. But as you all did notice, I said that I will try it anyhow.

I departed FLL this morning. When checking in at the SC, I presented my Amex platinum card and my BP. The agent said I didn't need the platinum card because of my linked Reserve card. I said I wanted to use the platinum card for the points voucher, which she said made sense, and processed me as a platinum card guest of the lounge.

When she handed me my 300 point voucher, I made a bit of small talk and then asked if I could have some extra vouchers...and she said "sure" and gave me a few (3) more.

I don't know how repeatable this is, but I will certainly try this in the future again. This particular lounge dragon seemed unphased by the request.

I'd be surprised if these all turn into points. Since the AmEx Plat card is swiped when you enter and AmEx pays DL something for the visit, it would be easy for AmEx to reconcile the number of vouchers with the number of visits. Now, if you sometimes forget or otherwise don't get the voucher during a SC visit, a stack of a few extras could come in very handy.

I think it's time for some lounge hopping. AmEx will be surprised how many lounges can be visited in a single day.:D

Only several? I count four at JFK alone and seven at ATL (plus the B10 SC is closed for renovations).

Good point. I will log in and enter them tonight. They don't scan the vouchers to link them to the particular card, but perhaps they tally the total number of lounge entries and cap me at that level.

In any event, I land at LGA in a little while and know of two SCs there that might also be worth a visit.

There will definitely be at least a modest pickup in lounge visits. Against that, there are perhaps a few hundred, maybe low 4-digits, of folks like us nutty enough to do stuff like this. A few years back, I recall that Amex disclosed there were over 500,000 US platinum cards issued...I'm sure it has gone up since, so even if 5,000 of us fall in the crazy category, the impact on the total platinum-sponsored lounge visits will be marginal.

If you connect through DTW, you could hit four more SCs, three if you avoid the tunnel to the B/C RJ gates.

This assumes that you're in airports at a time when all of the clubs are open.

Interim update. Landed at LGA and of course decided to visit the lounge to refresh after my flight. The legacy DL lounge was too crowded (true), so I was forced ;) to visit the legacy NW club instead. Of course, I could only determine that the legacy DL lounge was too crowded after I entered.

At the DL lounge, the male lounge dragon tried to say my platinum card wasn't needed due to my reserve card. I told him that I wanted to use the Plat card for entry to get the points coupon. He said no problem and just handed me a coupon. He didn't swipe me Plat card.

At the nw lounge, the lady dragon processed me using the Plat card w/o mentioning my reserve card. She did not offer me the Amex coupon. I asked, and she gladly gave me one.

I had some crackers and a diet coke and went on my way.

    1065 flight miles * 2.5 = 2,662 miles
6 lounge coupons (if honored) = 1,800 miles

Let's see how many coupons post...

I did have to ditch my two colleagues on arrival...saying I wanted to freshen up before going into the city. Definitely got a strange look when I said this. If they only knew about this little separate side of me...

I've entered all the certificate codes, and was given unique (but sequential) confirmation codes.

Let's see if they post. I've got a feeling they all will....just a hunch.

    Please report back.

When does this promo end? Are there dates on the certificates handed out by clubs?
