New Orleans is a perfect three-day jaunt

The home of jazz, Mardi Gras, and the muffaletta, New Orleans is a vibrant, culturally colorful city with a lot to offer.

    Day 1: Food and Drink
    11:00 AM
Take in the soul of the city with a carriage tour of its most distinct neighborhoods. Clip-clop through the French Quarter, Jackson Square, and Bourbon Street, or marvel at the pre-Civil War mansions in Uptown and the Garden District. Visitors can arrange pickups from their hotels, or they can hop into carriages waiting at the hub on Decatur Street. neworleansonline.com

    4:00 PM
After a full day of touring, you’ll need a pick-me-up: Grab a cup of chicory-laced coffee and a melt-in-your-mouth beignet from Café du Monde, the French Quarter legend that’s been serving customers since 1862. cafedumonde.com

    8:00 PM
Head to Elizabeth’s on Gallier Street, where you can indulge in New Orleans-inspired cuisine like praline bacon and blue cheese oysters. elizabethsrestaurantnola.com

Try to get to K-Paul. The Chicken-Andouille Gumbo and the Beef "Debris" are two of my favorites when there.

Have been to Nola many times -- a lot of good food all around I agree! K-Paul is a good one indeed! Need to follow it up with a Hurricane chaser :D

    I would also recommend Cochon

Will be in New Orleans in October and can't wait! I have not had a chance since Katrina hit but glad to see the city rising again!

Was there 2 days before Katrina hit and 6 months after and many times since -- much has changed and come back ... much has not ... but the energy is there again ... enjoy your trip!
