Never worked for McDonalds, back in the day, but did a Sandy's (Burgers - 15¢) Cheeseburgers (19¢) Fries, (10¢)
Fish sandwich (19¢) and a milk shake, 19 cents, if memory serves. Nothing else on the menu, that was about it for McDonalds too. Ah, those were the days. Worked at a Dog N Suds too, right next to the A & W. Go ahead, google Dog 'N' Suds. :) Made 50¢ an hour at the Dog.

Me neither, I have never worked for McDonald's but I enjoy a Big Mac from time to time!:)

Was however surprised by the fact that Mc Donald's is the largest employer in Brazil.

I just remember the Avenida Paulista branch in Sao Paulo, where the Mc Donald's is located in a beautiful restored colonial villa, plus of course being Brazil, they offered some wonderful local coffee creations there too.:)

Thanks for sharing your memories, these where the times with prices for the burgers / shakes and earnings for the employees to match. Today's menu offers a broader variety, ie. in Singapore during our first visit in 2002, McDonald's offered for example spaghetti with tomato sauce, called " McSpaghetti ". That's a far cry from serving up " only " burgers!:)

I've heard claims of as early as 1948 (In'n'Out); but certainly the last time
I ate at a Jack in the Box, 1968 or 1969, we ordered at a "Jack will speak
to you" and picked up our food at a drive-through.

Probably both! In Ireland for example, there is an Ad campaign at the moment by Mc Donald's which associates nearly 18.000 farmers with bringing " Irish beef " to the Irish consumer and claims that every " fifth " burger sold elsewhere contains Irish beef. I presume that Mc Donald's has such initiatives worldwide and this includes Brazil. Directly or Indirectly.
