26 Hours in Madrid, What should i see

    I am headed over to Madrid next weekend, i'll land saturday morning and leave sunday morning. Can my fellow MP'ers share any tips / suggestions / must visit sites / bars etc.? :)

    Be sure to walk around the center and have a drink in an outdoor cafe near Plaza Mayor. Go to the art museum and the palace, perhaps the botanical gardens if that interests you, and walk a bit along the big boulevards with historical big buildings. It's touristic, but I like to have dinner in an extremely old traditional restaurant in a very old building at Plaza Mayor. Have roasted baby pig or roasted baby lamb, traditional dishes of the region and make a reservation to eat very late. Stop by a tapas bar earlier to survive.

    I visited the Naval Museum when I was over in February and was rather impressed (PHOTOS).

    If you have any interest in modern art, the Reina Sofia is fabulous. That was one of the highlights of Madrid for me, along with the churros and chocolate.
