Into November now ... the crunch for status is still in full force I am sure ... how are flyers doing with their status for 2012?

I'll start ... I have happily re-qualified for AC SE again - about 2K over 100,000 - so with room to spare.

Unsure what 2012 will bring us but looking forward to it - i think! ;)

Early Q SE. Was going to slow down at 110K but the carrot of extra e-upgrades with 2013 expiration has me wondering if I push for 120K.

  7. I wish mine was over but doing over 150K Q miles every year makes me stay on the treadmill. I do like the travel just not the chase for points and certs but flying in the back is not a pleasant option either.

It is a bit of all......

Happy that the end of season mileage runs are over

Sad that lounge access is not available with my Elite card. I will however get access through another card.

Indifferent as my loyalty is now determined by price/schedule.......

At 150K it does not seem like much of a chase! Even with SE I am in the back too much for my liking.

Well in some sense the pressure is off. Glad you have at least some lounge access in some manner.

A small part of me is looking forward to the day the game ends.

Poor me. With some changes in plans I won't pull off elite as I thought. Lonely prestige for me in 2012 :(

UA these days, but I am considering AC for next year. I will finish with about 105K this year (with a bunch on AC). The hard part is that 80% of my travel is within two 30day periods which is tough on the body so I have to remember this next year!

My Q1 is a major portion of my travel. I too am trying to spread it out more in 2012.

This is a rare occasion that I hear of a move from UA/CO to AC. Care to elaborate why if you can?

I have to take a serious look at my travel for the next year. Half was work, half is personal.

The problem is my work is getting more demanding (meaning I will likely need to not travel out of NYC - or wherever I end up - as much and teleconference instead). While I am hoping to do a few long-hauls next year (SYD/AKL, LHR/AMS and BKK/KUL being on the top of my list) and attend a few DOs (Kiva, Austin BBQ, maybe a MegoDo), I will likely use my miles for some flights rather than cough up $$.

In total, I predict that my flights will decrease and I will drop from 1K. If that happens, I lose the SWUs and 2X miles. SWUs are probably one of the most important things UA offers. I will also drop down a rung (if I only fly 75K) or two (if I only fly 50K) making my UDU priority much lower.

Of course, that may change...but I like to play out the scenarios at the start of the year to maximize my benefits.

Sitting at 140k right now and will finish just over 160k for the year. Pretty average year... pour moi.

123K for me as of this morning. Final number will be something in the 130-140K range: the biggest question is whether I need to do one more NRT longhaul in December. Hopefully I can leave that until January and settle for about 130K ...

Will finish with about 170k on 140 segments. Only made one qualifying ocean crossing this year. Next year will see a lot less redeyes (I think I've done something like 30 of them this year), a lot less J (I did about 135 segments in J this year), and probably only E status in 2013. I *never* want to qualify for SE on domestic travel again.

AA Lifetime Platinum here, made it a couple years before the Dec. 1 cutoff. No chance making EXP this year, and there never has been, so life is peacefully boring this fall. . . :)

Have Omni Platinum and Hilton Gold wrapped up, have told Hyatt to take a big leap. Only uncertainty is if I will requalify LaQuinta Gold; probably will but not all that big a deal. . . .

Sounds good. I closed off on Hilton diamond about a month ago.

Do you think you will miss the EXP next year ? ;)

No, retired, no longer traveling for biz and even when I was never really came close to 100,000 BIS miles, etc.

Oddly, personal travel now is on routes where PLT upgrades virtually always clear, plus using credit-card miles plus other miles in lesser amounts for free F class MilesAAver Hawaii travel a couple times a year.

Thus, PLT gives me everything I really want other than not having to pay for upgrade stickers. In my case it's far cheaper to pay for the "stickers" than pay well into five figures to get the miles for Exec Plat on Mileage Runs!

MR to HKG first part of December will get me UA PG for next year (Might be able to sneak to Prem. Plat, but not going to force it). Would rather have miles go towards 2012. Next year will be the run for 1K hopefully leveraging UDU's from new status level with UA. My BMI Diamond Club *A Gold expires in January so move to UA is good timing for me.

Any plans for a MR to get SE? You are close.
