200 airport security screeners to be cut at Pearson:mad:

About 200 full-time security screeners at Pearson International Airport were given layoff notices after their employer said it would be cutting back hours, months after several part-time workers were hired.

The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority said last week it would be reducing hours for the screeners at several airports across the country.

On Wednesday, 190 full-time employees were handed pink slips.

Sounds like they are learning from the TSA model -- more "full-time" split shifts and hiring more part-timers.

TSA does a much more efficient job at staffing and making sure things move; CATSA is simply awful at efficiency.

I can't quote figures, but I have heard they have a really high turnover rate, especially at Pearson.
