I'd like to trade for voucher or something AA or Starwood or Hilton. Expires 1/9. worth around 1k if you're buying business class to Asia, much less if buying coach.

If you actually buy business then it might be worth 1k for that transaction but if I buy a 200 dollar ticket it's worth 40 to me.

Not sure how many here are buying business tickets to Asia that aren't reimbursed/paid for by someone else.

Yes that's what I said.... if no one wants it I'll use it for 3-400 off a USA - se Asia ticket. I just thought someone who buys higher priced tickets might have a better use. Clearly if you only buy $200 tickets (if there are any anymore) then this is not of use to you.

It is, but I suspect the same "no trading" rule applies in the UA forum here as it does in the other one.

I don't think there's any official rules approving or banning these kinds of posts. MP does have an exchange forum, but it is only open to Gold members.

Also, we all need to remember that different items will have different values to different people. If someone makes an offer that you can't accept, just politely decline and move on. If you're posting something for trade, posting specific items that you'll accept in return may help a trade happen. We're all here to help each other out. :)

One of the most frustrating aspects of the FlyerTalk Coupon Connection is some sort of weird culture that imposes "fairness" on the trades. The reason this is frustrating is because a given item could be worth vastly different amounts to different people, or even to the SAME people at different times, depending on their upcoming travel requirements and/or the collection of other items they might have.

On FlyerTalk CC, it is very difficult to suggest trades that don't somehow conform to people's "average" idea of what something should be "worth."

It would be much better if people offered trades in a totally free market sense, and everybody who wasn't interested just pipe down, or counter offer. So, if someone has a 20% off cert that has rough value of $400 for them, then they can ask for items that have roughly that same value TO THEM. Meanwhile, someone else can counter offer with "10 drink chits," if that is all the 20% cert is worth TO THEM.

$200 tickets? That's the most ill pay for a one way domestic or one way Canada.

Not everyone is in the same income bracket as you.

Actually it was good for round trip. It wasn't that I wanted to pay more but that tickets I used to be able buy for 200 one way are now $400 one way. I was lamenting the lack of cheap tickets ;)

I've got a couple of those 20% off thingies and trying to decide whether to use them or not. They only apply the discount to the base fare, I believe, not to the YQ ("fuel" surcharge). That reduces their value as a fair percentage of business class fares is YQ these days.
