    Is buying *points at the 20% discount a good deal? I understand they are discounted, but does that make it worthwhile to purchase them?

    Worthwhile only if you have a specific high-value reward in mind, or perhaps if you need to top off to hit an award.

    At almost 3 cents a point, it is not much deal unless you need the points to top off an award. 20,000 points (= 25,000 miles on may airlines, costs $560.
