Hi just joined newbie, travelling from SYD to MCO soon for conference with 2 day stopover in MIA. Keen to hear what people think I should see in MIA. Like shopping, eating out, art.
    Thanks in advance

  2. South Beach is obvious- the Wolfsonian is worth a visit while there; if you want to grab a quick bite on Lincoln Road, I like Books & Books. Do you know where you're staying yet? It really depends on your tastes. If you like botanical gardens at all, Fairchild Garden is awesome and has some unique plants. The different installation art there is also really interesting.

another vote for South Beach... its my favorite Miami destination

if you want something slightly more low key than Riverwalk/Las Olas Blvd in Ft. Lauderdale is cool too

if you've never done it check out the Everglades, its uniquely different and very close to Miami

Is the Big Cypress National Reserve worth visiting if I have already been to the Everglades, or is it just more of the same?

Thanks guys, I'm staying at The Doubletree Biscayne Bay. South Beach looks to be a must visit, The Everglades also, thinking now that 2 days is probably not enough time!

In a new city, two days is never really enough time. The key is to figure out what you want to do this visit, and then see things that you want to do when you come back

I recommend going up to Fort Lauderdale and riding the Water Taxi. Just about everything looks much better from the canals.

  9. You can always return. I normally try to stay in South Beach cause I end up bar hopping and in no shape to drive somewhere.

Lincoln Road and Bal Harbour are good for shopping. If you like outlet malls, the Sawgrass Mall is huge. On Ocean Drive in South Beach, hang out at the News Cafe....or any of the restaurants along the street. Great people watching.

Run to Le Tub for the best burger and key lime pie!
    Lincoln Road for people watching.
Go to Bayfront take a boat tour.
Breakfast or coffee and people watch at News Cafe.
Eat Cuban food. In South beach not fancy but authentic Puerto Sagua on Collins.

Are you a diver or do you enjoy snorkeling? Head down to the Keys and look at the fish. That's what I would do, but then... I specifically go to do that anyway.

There's an interesting art museum in an old mansion in South Beach.

Going to either the Everglades or the Keys is a full day. I don't think I'd want to do these dives while jetlagged.

    YES !!

It has been awhile since we’ve spent some time on SoBe, I always would make a stop at Puerto Segua as well as Rascal House (R.I.P.)

We are staying at Z Ocean Hotel on SoBe, hear good things about it. Turns out that the weekend we are going is during Art Deco Weekend, how crazy will this make SoBe?
