recd this email link tonight. 1500 miles with first purchase on gilt
Click here to get to website
I think I'll go ahead and buy some novelty items on there mhmm...
Anyone found any sub-$15 items? At 1 cpm, I'd want to spend $15 or less to make this worthwhile...
$14.95 with shipping.
$4.95 + $5.95 shipping. I haven't seen anything cheaper that's not already sold out.
I think I'll try this one though, might actually get better use out of it:
For anybody interested in this deal, I found these sushi mats for $2.95 + $5.95 shipping.
Fortuitous since I've been wanting to learn to make sushi anyway...
Nice! I can use that mat for something ...
Welcome to MilePoint!
I can confirm that the sushi mat referenced above is the cheapest item on the site. Not bad at 0.6 cpm.
Can't confirm, but I suspect those of us with both a MP and OP # and two email addresses may be able earn this one twice. I used a different credit card and different address to be safe.
My sushi mat should arrive tomorrow
WARNING: There's been a change in terms. They now require a minimum $25 spend. I signed up and placed my order around 5 pm on Dec 8 under the old terms. It appears the new restriction was added about an hour after that. Here are screenshots in case we need them.
BEFORE (2 screenshots) followed by AFTER (2 screenshots)
Just found out about the change, too. Good job with the screen shots and thanks for sharing. Guess they noticed all of our sushi mat purchases!
Thank you Airshadow! Proof that Gilt is "gilty" of sneaky business practices. Shame on them for trying to hide it, they didn't even tell UA as the UA landing page still has no mention of these terms.
I wonder if they will honor orders under $25 placed before the new terms?
Welcome to Milepoint.
I am going to guess yes.
Of course, I really don't know for sure. But I think they want new customers and they have the miles to give away...............
They had better, because otherwise they'll get a ton of bad reviews on the assorted online store review sites. During the Touchpad firesale fiasco a lot of online stores that took orders only to never fulfill them dropped like a rock in the reviews.
I'd also be tempted to dispute the credit card charge in that case.
I suggest that people who made their purchase prior to the change of terms for the mileage promotion use the customer service/feedback form on the Gilt website to voice their feelings to the company.
Then we will see the results of how they react to this situation.
Bait and switch is not an admirable business practice and certainly does nothing to ensure customer satisfaction or loyalty.
Got my sushi mats, still waiting on miles to post though. Curious as to how long it will take since I'm just now getting started with United...
How generous (and smart) of you to do this. Thanks so much! Fingers crossed we don't have make use of it and Gilt does the right thing
"please allow as much as 6-8 weeks for miles earned to post"
I guess we'll all reconvene here in a couple months to share results!
I just received another e-mail from them regarding this. Of course, I had already signed up and made a purchase before the change (received my order today). This time, the e-mail stated that you had to purchase at least $25 to get the miles. Of course the sign in page still does not display the $25 requirement, it only shows in the learn more section.
Yep, at worst this was a $17 experiment.
As a side note, I have my sushi mats in hand; appears Gilt is merely reselling the same product you can get in a 100-yen shop in Japan. If I wasn't just in it for the miles, I'd feel a little slighted given the fancy presentation on the website!
Any new news? Are they gilt-y of ye ol' terms and conditions switch-a-roo? No points posted here yet...
BTW I second United Connections side note... The sushi mats were pretty underwhelming, made me think of the dollar store. Even came in a huge box for that one little sushi mat (probably to justify the $5.95 to ship it?).... But at least we have two nice small placemats now while we wait to see if they do the right thing.
Not sure when the (second) change was, but it's now a * $50 * minimum first purchase. (Screenshot on 12/28)
Someone on FT spotted the increase before Christmas.
i received my miles today . Was a Nov purchase less than $15.
