I just received this email.
And here is the fine print / exact terms:
I received the same. Evidently this one has been around for a while.
I will not be putting that kind of spend on my card.
I agree. While an extra 15k would be nice, I have new cards and spend goals to achieve so I can't 'afford' to put $3750 on this non-multiplier card.
And I need hotel points much more than airline miles.
But sometimes that is a very thin line between 'need and want'
Yet ignoring that line does have consequences.
I think this is a very lucrative offer. 15K for 3750 spend. That is 4miles/$ !
I'm going for it - just got the email yesterday. Sure it's "only" 15,000 miles, but it doesn't require getting a new card or a new credit pull, so I'm pretty happy with it.
My wife and I got this offer for January-February-March. We do not have any other spend to make at the moment, so why not? Letting our credit pulls spread out a bit. My wife's spend likely will come mainly from her expenses relating to South American rivers.
Also, as we are sending my wife's brother's family (including 3 kids) to Disney World, I think these might come in handy! Just have to figure out if I can do an open jaw on US.
$3,750 spending for 18,750 miles is a pretty good deal ... why don't I ever get this email??
Maybe I should use my US Airways Mastercard a bit more ... knowing my luck, I'll get the email as soon as I open an SPG Amex with $5K spend requirement!
You should be able to! Just no stopovers on one-region awards.
I'm going for it too, based on the same rationale.
I've used my card once for $5.08. So, using your card won't necessarily get you targeted.
Was that once for the first purchase to get the 40K miles? If so, we're in the same boat. Mine was $1.94 ... they gave me 40,002 miles

Hmmm, I used mine for $8 and change and my wife used hers for $80ish. So perhaps there is a cutoff on this offer that you have to have spent at least $5 or something.
Yep! Plus I got my card and made my purchase on Nov. 14, the last day of the Grand Slam. So, that purchase also helped me get some Grand Slam miles .
So is there any way to call them and get this offer? Or you think that eventually that I'll get it too. I wasn't going to charge anymore on the card, but for 15K, I could meet the spend threshold.
I'm thinking of calling, giving the "my girlfriend/sister/mother/neighbor's dog got this promotion, I was wondering if I qualify as well. Oh, no? Guess I won't use this card then ..." spiel.
Worth a shot. I used my card only a couple times, and I did not get targeted. I do use another Barclay's card a lot though so maybe they figured they already had most of my spending.
I also use another Barclay's card a lot, and I did get targeted for this one. Who knows what their formula is?
How quickly plans change! I hit the spend requirements for most of the cards in my latest churn thanks to our wedding expenses. The only card left to hit spend on is the SPG Biz Amex and I'll get that after charging our St. Regis Princeville stay on it. It looks like I will be participating in this offer! Looking forward to an extra 15k US!
FYI, I was also one of the people that use this card once and shelved it.
Marriage -- the long-term solution to spend requirements.
And enjoy Kauai!
By the way, we have a Kauai thread here on Milepoint, so share some photos from your trip if you can:
Mine was for 26 cents. Pack of gum.
I was just getting around to canceling this card. Guess I'll hang on to it a bit longer and hope I get the email.
