Wish this was for some US airline which is not in bankruptcy
Note: Earnings are also adjusted, some down, some up.
Amazing news! I'm a little puzzled by some of the reductions for really expensive tickets within Europe. But hey, SAS account is coming out of retirement!!
This is the best info mail news from SAS I got this morning - Thank you very much SAS
Great news, even with the adjustments in some markets.
Yesssss! How i thought this day would never come..But here we are
One question is whether this will affect the Eurobonus earnings when flying other partners? Will the 25% be removed there as well?
Good point. My guess is no, doubt other airlines want their customers to move to EB, even less pay for it.
Only 80 days left :-D
That was step one for me to go back to EuroBonus. If SK then took step 2, aka. lowering star alliance award prices to a reasonable level, then I would be back on board. Well, I want to see it before I believe it.
Good news but of course something had to give. Lucky I'm usually travelling on the cheapest tickets.
For my travel pattern I have always reached Gold on 40 single flights, sometimes with a little extra planning
40 flights in economy restricted gives 6000 to 7800 points as it is now.
With this new matrix, 40 flights will give 20000 points in economy restricted. Not enough for the Gold badge.
A business ticket gives 1200 to 1500 as it is today. That will be lowered as well.
So I guess there are two sides of the coin after all.
Edit: Sweden domestic in my case...
Just a question about this, I never got myself involved with EB before because I saw no point when my domestic travel does not add up due to anti competition regulations in Norway. But would domestic segments count towards the gold status at all even if 0 miles are awarded?
Probably not, but even though domestic travel does not apply I still wouldn't ignore it as these days it's easy to get thousands of point each year through other activities
Think I got something like 60 points through use of credit cards last year
The SAS AmEx card is not an attractive offer to me and that has pretty much ruled out the credit card business for me.
There has been a lot of talk recently about reintroducing the bonus points system again in Norway and that's going to be a bit tricky. From what I read, the proposal is to reintroduce that for certain major domestic routes only; OSL-BGO, OSL-SVG, OSL-TRD because we already have so many flights operating at full capacity for both competitors on those routes. That will be nice, but that still puts me at a disadvantage when most of my travel involves SVG-BGO-TRD-BNN and very rarely involves OSL.
If segments were to count, they are technically not bonus points, then it would be easier to justify for myself moving from LH to SK.
I still find the offering from LH a lot more attractive and easier to sustain over 100k miles with M&M than with SK. I know the requirement is lower with SK but miles expiring every 5 years is a huge con.
Funny enough this is not a problem for me - no points have had more than a 3 year birthday on my EB account
I like to see them piling up. Collecting miles for the miles only
Well, sitting at ARN waiting for my 40:th flight this period. I guess that 50 isn't doable for me so maybe next year will be my last year as SK*G. Funny thing is that last period I had 101 flights, but 61 of them were "owerflow" when it comes to status achievement...
I was already getting ready for the 40 flights to get to gold for next year. Seems i will have to make new plans now...
But next year or from May it is changed to 50 segments to qualify for Gold So you are going to speed up from now and until May - depending of your qualification period.
Yup.. I am not even trying to get to Gold now. I will have to wait when the new tracking period starts in June and speed it up before it ends May 2013 and try to achieve gold this way or then go the Aegean way
Now only 28 days to the removal of the 25% earning rule - can't wait
I am also looking for forward to 100% earnings. Now we only need a guinea pig to see if the 100% earnings are solely a Eurobonus thing or if it works for other programs. Time will tell.
