USAToday: 10 tasty fast foods you can't get in the USA

I know everyone has their preferences...but...

How about macarons at McDonalds? Pizza with tuna, mayo, squid, and prawn? Or, perhaps, a Starbucks Frappuccino topped with "fresh coffee jelly?"

    :)

Thanks for posting this. My only quibble with their choices is that they forgot the McHaggis from Aberdeen and the McTripe in Florence.

I really like a good fresh kebab, and cannot seem to find nearly the quality or quantity in the USA as in Germany, Italy, UK.....

And of course all the street food in Bangkok!

Yes- excellent points. The stand right in front of the Bristol in Vienna has such good hot dogs the problem is to have only 1!

And also in Hamburg- with the curry.......

    Getting hungry now.

I have to agree with the vote for hot dogs in Copenhagen. I can't count the number of bacon wrapped, fried onion covered hot dogs I snacked on during my few months there. Delicious!

Technical question..... as a hot dog junkie, Im always suspect about the stuff if they have to wrap it in Bacon. In my book, if the real thing is good, there is no need to wrap bacon around it... heck, if you use enough bacon, even the Oscar Mayer junk is edible.....

Oh, they don't NEED to wrap them in bacon, it is just an option. In my opinion, bacon can make almost anything better, especially after a few beers by the water. Definitely not gourmet hot dogs (if that's even possible), but great street food.

OMG, visited the Frankfurt Christmas Market this past December and had a real frankfurter or sausage or whatever they call it, and it was amazing. I'm still thinking about it!

You can sub the fries with steamed rice at McDonalds in Indonesia in your extra value meals. It will be cheaper and the locals seem to prefer it too! :)

IMO hotdogs are comfort foods that can be amazing,
Even if they don't qualify as Gourmet...

I still remember it being quite decent (for the price). Mmm.

KFC was selling roti prata with all its greasy goodness for a limited time in Singapore too.

Bratwurst is far superior to American-style hot dogs IMO.

you better duck my friend, but I'll offer you the option of defining what a "proper hot dog" is to delay WWIII:D
there are a gazillion types of hot dogs in the US, what is American-style? If you mean an American-style dog being a skinless mealy franks, then yes you are correct. Thankfully there are fantastic hot dogs served in the US, one just has to know where to look.
I would normally have agreed for decades with this statement, until I tried a Sonoran Hot Dog in Tucson:
