"a distilled beverage and one of the world's most popular liquors. It is composed primarily of water and ethanol with traces of impurities and flavorings. Vodka is made from fermented substances like grain and potatoes."

I’ve been ‘Grey Goosing’ quite a bit and been pretty pleased. What other vodka am I missing?

Ahh, now this is a thread where I belong.

Grey Goose is by far my favorite, however of the major distilleries, I also like Belvedere. Kettle One isn't too bad, but I'll take Goose over it any day.

I am a Ketel One fan. I tried it a few years ago and choose it over the Goose.

I was drinking 'the Goose' when I saw K1 for 6 bucks cheaper. I think I would pay a buck or two more for Goosey, but not 6. ..and Kettle one is pretty darn good!

Definitely the Goose for me. I'll take Sky over Kettle, though. I guess it's just a matter of personal taste. My wife was in Moscow last month and brought me back some Russian vodka -- I don't know the names, as the labels were in Cyrillic. Excellent stuff, though! I'm sure it wasn't as pure as Grey Goose, but it had an interesting taste.

I'm sure the purists among you will look down your noses at this, but IMHO blending Vodka, Caffeine and Vincent Van Gogh is a winning combination.

With all due respect to Gargoyle, I avoid any flavoured vodka. I like mine out of the freezer in a near syrup like condition, to be drank in shots, chased with caviar or pickles and rye bread. Current vodka of choice is Russian Standard, although for something a little different, try Zubrowka from Poland.

Old Russian joke- What do you need for a good dinner? Just three things- Vodka, Sausage and a dog.
    Why the dog?
Someone has to eat the sausage.

I had a vodka called Wyborowa Exquisite while in Australia. Dangerously clean and smooth. I have been completely unsuccessful finding it here in the US. HELP!!

Gargoyle, you were someone for whom I held considerable respect. After this post, however, I have to wonder. Flavored vodka? ;)

It's not the flavor that wins me over. It's the presence of caffeine. I can ignore the flavor; after decades of drinking Grappa, I don't have any taste buds anyway.

Gargoyle: (Noun) A respected and admired Milepoint poster until 02/22/2011 when he submitted post #7 in the vodka thread, displaying coffee flavored vodka. Whitin minutes most members shunned him. The shame he brought is still felt to this very day.

Older generations remember where they were when the news of the Pearl Harbor attack was broadcast.
Many remember where they were when Kennedy was assassinated.
Now people will remember what they were doing when Gargoyle posted coffee flavored vodka on Milepoint, although it’s too ugly for discussion.

Not a huge vodka drinker, but grey goose isn't bad at all.

I think I have some finlandia minis from first class that has been sitting around for a long long time back to when I was a CP on US, which is at least 4 years back now...

Just as an FYI, UA serves Finlandia in both coach and F. It's not a bad vodka (at least it doesn't get me sick). However, I've also noticed that things taste different in dry, low-pressure air of an aircraft.

    Anyone else noticed that?

Can anyone do a drink report on Crystal Head Vodka? It's fairly pricey and seems very gimmicky.

I don't like the taste of vodka at all unless its heavily diluted with flavor adders and ice... just not my thing.

Maybe its because my dad is an alcoholic, or like 80% of my homeland is... but I really feel like its a waste of vodka me drinking it... I leave it for those that actually enjoy it, settling for a good beer or wine.

Grey Goose, especially La Poire straight from the freezer. Divine. But I also like Belvedere and Russian Standard Platinum.

Straight from the freezer Grey Goose is undoubtedly the winner. For my vodka & sodas or other mixed drinks I'll take Tito's Handmade which is a fraction of the price, tastes good straight, and does not induce a cheap liquor hangover.
