Caribbean Sun has shut down all operations. Members of the Star Miles frequent flyer program will have their miles transferred to the Star Miles program of Caribbean Star. Caribbean Star, Caribbean Sun’s sister airline is still in operation and is set to merge with LIAT. The combined airline will be called LIAT. Both Caribbean Star and LIAT flights will use LIAT’s LI designator code and the planes will be branded both LIAT and Caribbean Star until the merger is complete. Star Miles, the combined airlines’ frequent flyer program is set to add value to the program soon when members will have online access to account information. The existing partnership between US Airways and Caribbean Star should continue after the merge with LIAT is complete.
