Well then.

I did make it over the mountain, in the freezing rain, to the airport (YQU) where I am now comfortably esconced by the window, sipping Johnnie Walker in black coffee. Both ingredients are improved thereby.

I rather like the idea of unobtanium status, not the least of which because in the experimental part of my day job, we occasionally do kvetch, wail, and moan about the need to fabricate particular items of equipment (particularly spark-proof colliery-grade testing instruments) from unobtanium.

On an allied note, I mourn the closure of Boeing's surplus store in Renton (south of Seattle). One could, indeed, there reliably acquire billets and scrapped fabricated parts of pure, high-strength, grain-oriented, aircraft-certified unobtanium.

Sigh.

More JW-in-caffeine, stat!

Amplification: the coffee comes from a vending-machine in the holding-room at YQU. It's not unpalatable in and of itself, and for $1.25 it's hardly excessively-dear. But still, if the opportunity to up-engineer arises, why not sieze it? Carpe hibernium, and all that.

OK Corral, yahh. When do we get to see Kirk, Spock, Scotty and Bones relive this tale, on our high-fidelity, Supermarionation, turbo-hydramatic seatback viewscreens?

Still parked at 94/95 AQS, but in about four hours shall be at 96/95 AQS. I expect them to post the day after the October 15th sweep.

Among other massive changes in this century, Northwest became Delta, Continental became United, US Airways became American, and Milepoint became Inside Flyer. But so far, only in the last one have our points not become diluted or devalued. Lets hope it stays that way!

On the contrary, there's a great offer from LifeMiles to enrich your balance.

I don't have much to say, but you can usually find me saying it here.

Oops, there is a major downgrade. We now see ads, gold level used to get us ad free on the old site.

I only took a brief look at it, but IIRC and if I understood what I was looking at, it was something like $3600 for 100k miles, and even if they redeem at a 50% bonus (like 150k miles, still didn't look that great to me. 150k miles at a 2¢/mile redemption value is only worth $3000.

Maybe I read it wrong?

Haven't had a chance to go through the process, but it says buy 100,000 and get a 150% bonus, which I believe would be $3900 for 250,000 miles if you buy 100,000 miles. And on top of that, there is "up to 50%" discount" on redemptions, which would substantially increase the value if it works for you. Potentially a really good deal, and I would expect no less from Randy, but crunching all the numbers right now makes my brain hurt, so I'll look at it again later.

the more I navigate it (or try to, at least) the less I like the new interface. Sure, it looks fresh, clean and modern (i.e. sterile), but it seems less informative, more inefficient, and so much wasted screen real estate.

Could be. When DL says that a certain fair bucket gets a 150% bonus, that means 100,000 BIS would earn 150,000 miles, not 250,000. So I'm just going by that method of accounting. So is this one 150% total or 150% added on top of the base 100%?

I hit the X to get rid of the ad because it ate up half my screen, so now I don't have the link anymore to go look at it.

The wording is a little goofy. I agree that a 150% bonus on DL means a 50% bonus, at least for MQMs, but 150% bonus, or some other increment on LifeMiles in the past has meant a total of 250%, so I will continue to assume as much. That being said, I appreciate the offer but don't know that I will be a buyer.
Also, you might be able to see the ad again by logging out and opening up the home page again.

I'm just passing through today while trying to do some other stuff, but something I've noticed is the lack of a link to "new threads" to go along with my "watched threads." It might be there and I haven't looked hard enough yet, but it isn't where it was a couple of days ago.
