New Future Luxury Hotels
Indeed, this new Shangri-La will be a new flagship hotel for the chain and for Australia as a whole. Luxury will be innovative, in the future it's about bringing "one of a kind" experiences, design and service together in surroundings which will "enhance" the lifestyle of guests. IMHO, Luxury is wide "open" and could go many diverse ways, trends changing fast, the mood of the guest can turn any minute from "classic" to "modern" or from "in the middle of it all" to "total privacy" at a whim, hotels should/must figure this out on how to react to all this changes.
In regards to Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, I remember reading what the CEO thought about the future of Shangri-La Hotels and what guests expect and how people see luxury hotels, he said that their hotels in Manila, especially the Shangri-La at the Fort or in Shanghai, especially the Shangri-La Jing An are something of future "blue prints" for Shangri-La Hotels worldwide when they open/plan and operate new hotels. Interesting, IMHO the new Melbourne property fits in this scheme for this particular hotel group and how they see the luxury hotels "of the futue" evolving which incl. their guests too.
Overall, from our experience Shangri-La is a wonderful hotel chain which delivers beautiful luxury, especially at their wings they operate around Asia incl. the Valley Wing in Singapore or the Rasa Wing in Penang for example, both of which we've experienced and they come highly recommended. We equally wonder will Shangri-La in the future add further wings to their new hotels or will they concentrate on their Horizon Club offerings [exclusively] instead? Only time will tell, and this might has a lot to do what's in "trend" or where the "mood" takes future guests in their hotels.
Cheers & Safe Travels. 🙂
