It would be great if we can search weekends (like kayak) with options like friday pm to monday am, friday pm to sunday pm etc. That can be more generic as well like search for flights leaving every monday for the month of may and returning some other day.

You can already do a calendar search for, say, a two night trip +/1 one day. I actually think this is better than a weekend search since it includes all the weekends in a month AND lets you know if it might be worth it to take an extra vacation day and leave on Thursday because the fare is $200 less. A true weekend search a la Kayak is unnecessarily restrictive in my opinion, and I have never used this feature on Kayak.

The only problem is you can't use advanced routing language with a calendar search, but depending on the market this may not be an issue. You can always restrict the airlines displayed once you reach the results page.

I need to get down to this part of MP more often ... did not know there was a Hipmunk forum! Have happily been on Hipmunk for well over a year now and find the graphical interface the best thing out there.

I agree with that. I signed up with Hipmunk quite some time ago, but just haven't used it. Today, I'm feeling my way around the Hipmunk matrix, learning, and making mistakes, as I go, but learning. I found a fare on UA with 3 connections, ie, more miles and segments, at a better price than on the UA site. Not easy routing to OGG from PIA.

The interface looks completely different now. Its ITA routing language no longer allowed?

2013 EQM AS 39K - 15 segs | UA 78K - 50 segs
2012 EQM AS 40K - 16 segments | CO/UA 154K - 105 segments

You can still use the routing language! Just type two colons after the airport code (e.g. SFO:: followed by the routing codes).

I just tried again and no problem. I'm not sure why it didn't work earlier today. Price is different though. When i did a regular search the price on Hipmunk was higher than what came up on Kayak for the same itin, Outbound on Hipmunk was pricing as N fare outbound and raturn as a G fare but the lower N fare was available both ways (click on thumbnails to expand):

and

When i used Kayak it was N fare both ways and about $23 cheaper

Unless I'm missing something, this is broken. Comments at http://maphappy.org/2013/10/book-google-ita-matrix-flights-using-hipmunk/ suggest using a space in lieu of the double colon, but even that doesn't work for me. Either I get an error, or Hipmunk blissfully ignores the query. 🙁
