That will happen a lot, and people will get hung up on it. The fact is, standard awards for that property could just as easily have gone down to, say, 40k/night, because award costs are now tied to room rates in hard currency and, thus, change dynamically or in real time. It is the nature of a revenue-based system and why the elimination of award charts is not so much to avoid transparency, but because charts are meaningless when award rates change with whatever the costs of rooms in cash happen to be when you search. I just wrote up some of these features here, which are consistent with what you just noticed. I gave the example of WA Shanghai where the redemption rates in December have hit their lowest level I have ever seen, i.e., the exact opposite of what you just saw.
Try to look at things in every situation from the standpoint of the affected parties.
