The transatlantic route connecting the U.S. and the U.K. is a highly competitive market, especially when it comes to attracting high-paying business travelers. British Airways was the first airline to offer 50,000 bonus miles for business class travel across the Atlantic and American, United and Delta were quick to offer similar promotions. Travelers flying in business or select coach fares can quickly rack up the miles with these promotions but travelers flying on discount coach fares (and spending significantly less money) will not earn bonus miles with any of these promotions.

British Airways Executive Club members can earn 50,000 bonus miles for each roundtrip Club World flights (J, C, D, R or I) or first class (F or A) ticket originating in the U.S., Canada, Bermuda or the Caribbean and ending or connecting in London between March 16 and June 30, 2009. Book a roundtrip World Traveller fare (Y, B or H) or World Traveller Plus (W, E or T) and you’ll earn 25,000 bonus miles. Codeshare flights are not eligible. Registration is required at http://www.app.ba.com/springpromo and there is no limit to the number of miles members can earn with this promotion.

American Airlines AAdvantage members who book and fly nonstop in first or business class (F, J, A, D or I) between the U.S. and London Heathrow or Manchester from March 16 through June 30, 2009 will earn 50,000 bonus miles for each roundtrip flight. Members flying in select coach classes (Y, B, H or R) will earn 25,000 bonus miles. Registration prior to travel is required at http://insideflyerus.wpengine.com/link/?1519 using promo code UK50K. This offer is only available to members residing in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean or Bermuda flying roundtrip on American Airlines flights.

United Airlines Mileage Plus members who book and travel roundtrip between the U.S. or Canada and London Heathrow between March 23 and June 30, 2009 can earn 50,000 miles for flights in United First (F, A or P class) or United Business (C, D or Z class). Flights on select coach fares (Y, B or M class) will earn 25,000 miles. Registration at http://insideflyerus.wpengine.com/link/?1521 is required. Flights must be on United or United Express and connecting travel through London Heathrow will not qualify.

Delta Air Lines SkyMiles members can earn up to 50,000 bonus miles for roundtrip Northwest and Delta transatlantic flights between the U.S. and London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester or Edinburgh. Register, book and fly between April 6 and June 30, 2009 to earn 50,000 bonus miles in business class (Delta fare classes J, C, D, S and I and Northwest fare classes J, C, I and Z) and 25,000 miles in premium coach class (Y, B and M on Delta and Northwest). Air France marketed/Delta operated flights between Atlanta or New York and London Heathrow are also eligible to earn the bonus but all other codeshare flights are excluded.
