Oh, I thought you’d point to the real problem being with mental heathcare or something like that...

I don't always drink beer, but when I do I will certainly NOT drink Bud Light.

In this age of [alt-thruth] and Fake-News, we are indeed desensitized to sober, rational discourse. Given this climate, it is but obvious that hyperbolic venting, and over-the-top Chair-box (A soap-box but using a chair to standup @ Hyde's Park corner, I witnessed recently 😀 ) tamasha, either gets attention, or gets frustration and exasperation from rest of us.

I think I feel no outrage now at the shenanigans of any airline, and am happy that they have not cancelled by life-time status.... small mercies....

PS: 504 gateway errors. How nice...

there may be some hope. The unhappy one has decided to leave!

If so, posted by him/her: https://insideflyer.com/forums/threads/censorship-complete-a-happy-elite-bids-everyone-adieu-this-was-the-last-place-for-real-cartel-news.139662/

This adversely impacts all of us as consumers of air travel, and is not going to be fixed until enough voters demand a fix from Congress, since Congress is the one who caused the problem by too broadly deregulating the industry, blocking states from regulating it, and permitting a toothless Federal oversight which is, many feel, a captive of the cartel.

You may accuse him/her of being overly shrill and thus weakening the force of his legitimate points, and I tend to agree, but this *is* a problem and if no one is on the soapbox it's not likely to attract enough outrage to force a solution.

Maybe he should set up a Twitter account and go trolling?

If this was all confined to one discussion thread, which is very appropriate because it's all the same topic repeated ad nauseam, it's not really a problem in my view. You want a thread to discuss the eeeeevil US airlines and diabolical, mustache-twirling cartel behavior? OK!

I also don't think there are easy answers to these questions, nor do I entirely agree with the premises- we're talking capital-intensive industries and if deregulation got us some downsides, I'm not keen to fly Soviet-era Aeroflot either. Or even pre-deregulation US airlines, where the prices of airfare kept a lot of people out of planes and kept airlines off of routes, and there were no such things as frequent flier programs that gave you Krug and showers for pennies on the dollar. Regulatory capture is a thing even if the regulators have more power than they do now. Oh, and airlines regularly went bankrupt in the 80's-00's. Is stiffing airline employees for wages and contracts, suppliers for supplies, and causing taxpayers to cover pensions worth getting low low airfare for? So we only have 5-6 airline companies in the US... how many auto manufacturers do we have here? What exactly is the "perfect" number of airlines to have to maximize competition, and what makes you think a government can decide this number better than a market?

But thread after thread of the exact same hyperbolic language and the exact same point made over and over and over and over and over again just clutters up the forum. But the IF powers that be don't moderate the place well, and have let the forums slowly wither on the vine, so it's just a symptom of a problem, that jerks get free reign to be jerks.

Yup, I noticed it didn't last long.

I now only pop in 1-2x a day, where I used to be logged in all day long. The poster was the reason I really stopped posting... everything would get buried by the muck. But the errors (and the resulting migration of Teh Box) pushed me to my limited use now.

Too bad!
