Thanks for your reply, but we pick up the car in 4 days. I accepted the offer, and now wonder how long it will take for AutoSlash to send me the final confirmation with the new rate/booking info. I accepted the offer about noon today, a Saturday, and have still not gotten a confirmation yet.

Perhaps I should just wait, but I expected that once I accepted it, I'd hear back more quickly.

Later info:

"Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. You’re all set! Your reservation details are below. The good news is that we got your rate down even further to $210.41. Thanks for using AutoSlash!
NOTE: Be sure to cancel your previous higher priced Car Rental Savers reservation to ensure you get the correct rate at the rental counter."

While it took me several tries to finally get this right, and it took Autoslash until the following day to get back to me, I am sold. This is a great site and I will continue to use it.

Thanks again for all the info/help provided upthread. Happy trails!

Yes, rates have been falling I found lately. AS has put in some new info requests, not only the date of the rental but your current price of the rental. I think this helps them focus on what to work on first, hardest, most often, etc.. I still wish they would someone link up with Zalyn to make the process single source and fluid to the user.

I got an update on my SJC rental last week, but forgot to post it. Yesterday, I received another revised price. The price dropped to $65 from $72 last week.

You were originally booked at $163.54 USD, and the price has now dropped to $65.94 USD. We've automatically re-booked your rental at the lower rate. You've saved $97.60 USD without even lifting a finger!

Hello Auto Slash, love your company. Looking at a booking with you for MCO this spring. Rates are the highest I have ever seen there. Can you tell me why?

In my opinion, it's unusual to get multiple price decreases as my rental approaches.

It's unusual (IMHO) to see the rate drop so close to the rental date.

You were originally booked at $163.54 USD, and the price has now dropped to $42.95 USD. We've automatically re-booked your rental at the lower rate. You've saved $120.59 USD without even lifting a finger!

Actually, it's very much my experience that this happens, a day or two prior. I think AS has some algorithms to check more frequently right up to 24 hours prior (so a car isn't allocated by the agency and then has been changed).

I also try my own search just prior, knowing that last minutes rates change dynamically with inventory and agencies are in real-time adjusting pricing in the short term to drive rentals.

Our Thanksgiving car, went from 400$ for the week, to 210$ for the week and two days prior dropped down to 150$ for the week AND upgraded to a premium. Ended up going from a Full Size to a BMW 528i for 150$ all in for the week!
