B737 MAX fallout

I'll be flying to the UK tomorrow.  I've had two itinerary changes for the return trip. The final leg (YVR-YEG) was originally booked on an A320, then a CRJ900 and now a Q400.

I presume this is a matter of fleet juggling with the B737 MAXs grounded. Anyone else noticing this sort of musical chairs? Comments about MAX experiences?

Indeed, have seen quite some juggling in the Western Triangle of late. Most recent YYC>YVR hop was at first to be on a 320, then swapped and slightly delayed to be on a DH-4, then actually brought back earlier and flown in a huge, luxurious, and speedy Dreamliner.

I was the only person seated in the front cabin; I presume that no upgrades were processed owing to the prior assignment of the DH-4. I'm guessing that I was their only paid-J customer for that run.

I have just downloaded the new timetable and am looking to see how my customary commuting has been rejiggered.

Incidentally, the return trip from YVR to YEG this week was on a 320. No DH-4s in evidence at YEG, although the northern outstations are all supposed to be exclusively served by DH4s after the beginning of May.

I got home last night (LHR-YVR-YEG) to find a phone message that I had been offered a longer wait to avoid the overbooked Q400 and instead take an A320, which would also be overbooked (!) $400 compensation was being offered. As it worked out, when I checked in I enquired about taking an earlier flight with a tight connection, and was given a seat and met at the door when my incoming flight arrived 14 minutes late. Escorted quickly through immigration and was last to board. The flight then departed 9 minutes early. Checking the app, the flight was full and there were a number of disappointed stand-bys.

I don't think I could have reasonably managed to wait another 4 hours in YVR.

Yultide, you got ripped off with only $400. Friend of mine who had had a horrendous time recently with cancelled flights, etc has now received 6 $500 compensation coupons.

Amongst the fallout: biweekly revisions to the PDF version of the schedule book. Latest one was full of typos and logical inconsistences. They got YVR>YQQ basically okay (chock-full of equipment switches on some days, though) but YQQ>YVR was gibberish.

Fortunately, the booking-engine seems still to work.
