Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas will receive a “Texas sized” makeover in early 2016. Liberty of the Seas will soon reposition from the New York area to her new homeport of Galveston, Texas, where the ship will offer 7-night cruise vacations to a variety of western Caribbean destinations including Belize City, Belize; Cozumel, Mexico; Falmouth, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Puerto Costa Maya, Mexico; and Roatan, Honduras.

New Water Slides

Guests can also look forward to Royal Caribbean’s first water slides, including the first Tidal Wave slide at sea. The new  slide features a steep drop that propels riders up a near vertical wall for a moment of weightlessness and into free fall.

The Perfect Storm also features two new racer slides called Cyclone and Typhoon which will be located at the rear of the ship along with the Flowrider surf simulator that was initially introduced on the Freedom class of ships. In addition, kids will have an adult-free zone with the introduction of Splashaway Bay, an aqua park featuring an interactive kid’s play area with water cannons, geysers and other fun activities.

New Dining Options

The 3,634 guest ship will emerge from a month-long dry dock in February 2016, and feature a host of exciting enhancements from bow to stern. Guests will enjoy new dining options including Sabor specializing in a  menu of authentic, modern and unexpected Mexican dishes, such as Oaxacan Ceviche of Red Snapper or Spicy Chicken Flautas – to name a few. Sabor diners can look forward to customized guacamole and salsas, made tableside, as well as an assortment of tacos, quesadillas and burritos, all made with the freshest ingredients. Guests will also enjoy Giovanni’s Table, an Italian trattoria featuring Italian classics served family style as well as sip on classic cocktails in the R Bar, featuring a sophisticated 1960s vibe, complete with iconic decor and signature cocktails mixed by a savvy and personable mixologist. Guests will continue to enjoy Royal Caribbean’s signature steakhouse, Chops Grille, as well as casual dining options like Johnny Rockets and Windjammer Cafe.

New Staterooms

During dry dock, Liberty of the Seas will also receive new stateroom options including 26 new Panoramic Ocean View staterooms.  floor-to-ceiling glass walls, providing guests with breathtaking, unobstructed views. An additional 53 staterooms will also be added around the ship. Suite guests will also experience a new suites lounge along with Royal Caribbean’s concierge services. Elite Crown & Anchor Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacle members will continue to enjoy concierge benefits and Diamond Club access depending on their elite status level.

Liberty of the Seas is the latest ship to receive upgrades under Royal Caribbean’s Royal Advantage ship revitalization program meant to bring more restaurants, more nightlife, and more entertainment to every ship in the fleet. Even with all these enhancements, guests will continue to enjoy amenities that Liberty of the Seas is known for like the FlowRider surf simulator, rock climbing wall, and more.  Setting sail February 7, 2016, the reimagined Liberty of the Seas promises a cruise vacation in grand style.
