Philippine Airlines and All Nippon Airways are now codeshare and frequent flyer program partners. The carriers have a combined total of 74 flights between the two countries weekly and the new codeshare agreement will save connection time to domestic destinations as well as offer the benefit of checking your bags to your final destination. Passengers traveling on either carrier can take advantage of free shuttle buses operated by Philippine Airlines between terminals 2 and 3 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila. Members of Philippine Airlines Mabuhay Miles will be able to earn and burn when flying ANA and ANA Mileage Club can earn and burn when flying Philippine Airlines.

INSIDE|Point: Philippine Airlines sole airline partner has been Etihad Airways so this is an especially welcome addition. ANA is a Star Alliance member with a long list of airline partners.

Someday when PAL grows up, it will be an actual member of Star Alliance and become truly more attractive to frequent flyers. Right now they talk a good game about being a world class airline but it just ain’t so based on their booking policies, customer service and long-haul seat quality, not to mention being a peripheral player in the frequent flyer benefit realm.
